Sure! I'll get to know them little by little and I've done that many times, it's really not a big deal to me. I just need a little response from the writer or director on how the character should be played and their personality traits ;)

I did last year, and I got the part too!

The play was The Admirable Crichton. We had a few readings before auditions but other than that I knew very little about the show. I've still never seen any of the movie adaptations.

It was actually really fun though. As I didn't have any prior knowledge of how the part is usually played or anyone to compare myself with, I wasn't really trying to be like anyone else and the part felt like my own.

Also, we do a pantomime every Christmas, and the characters (and sometimes stories) can vary in those quite a lot.
