Isolde was awesome! Gwen was great too!

Gwen a close second, but I don't think they still have developed her to potential. Not without many shortcomings in the writing,and not without my wrath on occasion, Arthur was the character this season. He was the one who engaged and captivated me. Merlin did not in S4. They really have to bring him front and center next season, and I'm not talking about his relationships with Arthur or Gwen.

Gwen for me. Loved her scenes with Arthur and Isolde. Her sword fighting skills, or lack thereof, was charming. Her coronation was just about the only thing I cared about in the episode and I was just happy to see my Gwennie finally back in Camelot.

Although, perhaps it could have been Merls for me but I was annoyed when he used magic in order for Arthur to pull Excalibur out of the stone *eye-roll* (okay... that was supposed to be Arthur's shining moment.) But yeah, the episode was kind of disappointing to begin with and after the first part of the two-parter proved promising, this was just... a major let down. Similarly to May, the only thing I cared about in this episode was the coronation- because that has been my dream endgame for them since the beginning. However, I was looking forward to Arthur and Excalibur- that has been the one scene that I have been waiting to watch since season 1 and I was thoroughly disappointed in the execution. Nonetheless, Arthur's will power was restored and my bb was confident of himself again. This season developed Arthur and really focused on his strengths and blunders- which was really reflected in this episode, bringing everything back in a circle even if it was incredibly rushed. I was very proud of him in the finale and I see the Golden Age of Albion in his future. I loved Gwen as well, but the writers sidelined her (so what's new), but what little screentime she did get showed what a strong Queen she will make.

Always Gwen. Arthur was such a little whiny bitch those last two episodes, he needs to pull himself together sometimes. Good job he's got Gwen to sort Camelot out.

Arthur was amazing in the last episode. He was a true leader and a great man. I was so very proud of him. I agree with what Issie said. I was annoyed at Merlin for Excalibur too.

Strong, resourceful Gwen will make a powerful and popular Queen of the people. It's a shame the producers aren't going to clear her innocence any time soon!

I was just so impressed with badass Merlin in the cave with Agravaine. But A & G are right up there as well.

Tristan and Isolde all the way. I didnt see the reason for their inclusion in the series but when we reached the climax, i saw it just as Arthur did too. Their undying love, understanding and passion for each other taught Arthur a lesson and prevented him from commiting the biggest mistake in his life; letting go of Gwen.
But if we are talking about season 4, then i will choose Arthur because he owned it, period.
