Benedict Cumberbatch Loves Diving, Talks Newly-Married Life With Wife Sophie Hunter

The 38-year-old actor, in an interview with Lufthansa magazine (via tv3.com), revealed that whenever he feels like he\'s going off the deep end, he submerges himself underwater.

"When it\'s possible, I get into a plane and fly off to a place where I can go diving," Cumberbatch said. "There\'s nothing I find more peaceful than being underwater."

The Oscar nominee added of dealing with the everyday stresses of superstardom, "I\'ve learnt that with this job, you can\'t spend too much time thinking about the little things. You don\'t have any control over some things anyway."

Cumberbatch is currently in the midst of a relatively low-stress "nesting period" with wife Sophie Hunter, pregnant with the "Sherlock" star\'s first child. Parenting, and living "as much a normal life" as possible, will be Cumberbatch\'s top priorities moving forward.

"I think there are plenty of good actors who are fathers," the "Sherlock" star mused in a recent interview with ET Canada. "I mean, you only have to look at Daniel Day-Lewis as an example and a lot of my dear friends: Mark Strong, I mean, I could go on and on."

"I think what children do is enhance your life, they don\'t inhibit it," he added. "They don\'t limit it, they give you inspiration and depths of understanding of the human condition and what it is to be on this planet and what our purpose is, that goes well beyond anything a childless actor could hope for."

Cumberbatch, growing up, "had a weird obsession" with being a father by age 32.  

"It was just a hunch about a number," he told the LA Times a few months ago. "I was always a bit of an old soul. I wasn\'t really interested in being young. I mean, I wasn\'t eccentric. But I\'m glad it didn\'t happen. Things happen for a reason."
