Happy Birthday Janis Joplin.
Love her or hate her, she was a great singer and icon of the 60's Woodstock generation. IMHO she might be the greatest female blues singer, ever. She popularized older hits such as Ball And Chain, and Summertime. Her hit, One Good Man, written for her by guitarist Mike Bloomfield, may have been about her love affair with Johnny Winter.
As with so many of that time, Janis overdosed on heroin October 4, 1970.
Janis would be 75 today.
