You're right; there are many different kinds of love. And yes, Victor and Victoria fell in love, that's for sure (and who says otherwise is deluding himself/herself, but everyone can believe whatever he/she wants). But you say you really think that Victor fell in love with Emily. Well, I think he only was fond with her, because she is so kind, nice, beautiful and charming (I don't think she's smarter than Victoria, where and when do you see that, could you tell me? She trusted a strange man who came from nowhere and believed everything he told her. I think she was a bit naive, and that costs her life). Well, Victor though that he had lost Victoria, the only one who loved him in the Land of the Living, and he decided to go with the woman who loved him in the Land of the Dead. Perfectly logical, no one can blame him for looking for love, we all do. But this decision was taken only when he found out that Victoria was going to marry Barkis, not before. If he had not heard about this, I doubt that he had decided to marry her. People say that he would die for Emily, but I (and more people) say that he couldn't live without Victoria. And we both are right. You say that this couple makes more sense for you. I must disagree. I'm sorry, Emily is dead. Terribly, but true. If they had stayed together, what would they do all eternity apart from decompose slowly? Okay, tell me, playing the piano, dancing, singing, everything you want. But I'm sure that after an eternity, they would get tired. And they could not do what all couples do: have children, watch them grow, have grandchildren, to form a real family. They couldn't have a good existence. They never will be really free. And do not forget the poor Victoria. Barkis surely would have killed her in a fit of madness. Well, she also would have gone to the Land of the Dead, and who would be there? Victor and Emily. How do you think they would feel? Well, if I were Emily, I felt largely responsible for her death, because if she had not taken Victor that would not have happened. And Victor ... How do you think he would feel? I could not even look at Victoria's face, frankly, much less speak to her. After that he had said to her that he wanted to marry her... And Victoria ... seeing them both together, her lost love, her lost life and her lost dreams ... horrible ... All three would have been miserable for all eternity ... They would never be free. You also say that Victoria doesn't have hobbies, or at least they aren't shown in the film. Well, there you are wrong. What about sewing? Victoria knows how to sew and that is a hobby too, very useful indeed, and with which you can create true works of art. And although you can't see them in the movies, she could have many hobbies: reading, writing, even drawing as Victor, why not? Don't see them doesn't mean that they don't exist. Another thing you say is that Victor and Victoria are very shy and they wouldn't talk. Well, shyness can be overcome after a while, when people take confidence. And I think Victor and Victoria are very similar, they can understand each other. They have led similar lives, they know what it feels like to be alone and misunderstood by your own parents, who didn't love them very much, really. Their parents did not care their happiness at all, they nor approved of their dreams. Victor and Victoria know how it is to feel used and mistreated by your own parents. It takes time to know each other a little better, of course, and at first it's a teenage love, of course, but that happens to all couples as they begin. I think they would share their hobbies, talk about what they like and do not, Victor could teach Victoria how to play the piano, and she could teach things as well, I'm sure. Although her marriage was arranged, I think they are lucky. They like each other and they have a lot of things in common. Both of them like music (piano) and nature (butterflies and flowers)… I'm sure they will be a perfect love match ^-^ But what they have in common Victor and Emily? Okay, they both know how to play the piano and they are very good people. And what else? Emily is outgoing and she enjoys singing and dancing, not like Victor, who does not seem like much these things. If you look in the film Victor and Victoria neither sing nor dance, at least intentionally, because Bonesjangles made Victor dance. XD Another thing Victor and Victoria have in common. Okay, maybe with time Victor would have really loved Emily, if Victoria had managed to escape Barkis and she had married someone else. But I doubt that they had forgotten about each other, and I think they may have regretted after not being together, because as you say, they love each other. Victor may have understood after Emily and he were not so much in common, and he would be forever trapped in time, decaying, unable to have children, grandchildren, or a real family, no one to remind him (except perhaps Victoria),... Without ever being free. I do not think Emily and he would have become butterflies, because they wouldn't have done the right thing. Luckily Emily did. She realized what was about to do, she relented and she got to be free. She went to Heaven, where she will not suffer anymore. And Victor and Victoria can stay together, know each other, love each other more and more, have children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a future wonderful life (and later death) to share. They can be happily ever after. I am sure they will be eternally grateful to Emily for her generosity. I would be. ^-^ Another thing, if Victor had loved Emily more than Victoria, he would have insisted on staying with her. But he didn't complain when Emily put his hand together with Victoria's. On the contrary, he smiled. He felt happy. As I (and more people) did. ^^ I know some people said: "why he isn't crying? Emily is going!" Well, why should he cry? He stays with the young woman he really loves, and Emily has understood that her time has gone, and she's free now, she goes to Heavens, she won't be unhappy anymore. Jessikaroo CrisBxFBxATxN, you've got some really valid points I never really though about. I still think that if Victor and Victoria had had chances to meet other people, they might have people that made them happy too (Not necessarily Emily with Victor, because you're right, she's dead). Maybe I'm right that their love was just trying to make the best of a sticky situation, or maybe it was true love (Sorry, I have the tendency to be a bit of a cynic. I've seen a lot of bad in the world). But their love always did remind me of something kind of... For need of a better word, childish? I've seen stuff like it too often when my friends fall in "love" with their current boyfriend/girlfriend. Only for them to realise they were wrong. But still, maybe this is my opinion because of the way the world has always been presented to me. Thanks for your feedback. :P ps- I forgot Victoria was sewing, how stupid of me. x)

I think that you need to know someone before really love him/her deeply. fans440 I think maybe Victor did not love Emily, but was desperate to please her because of her murder. Emily seems all too willing that Victor could not lie to her when he goes to see Victoria instead of his parents. 'Little miss living' I think needed to go with victor because it seems that she cared for him a lot!

HAFanForever Jessikaroo, while I think you made a good argument, I'm afraid I agree with CrisBxFBxATxN on why she disagrees with you. I think any and all fans of VictorxEmily have to think carefully on the fact that it wouldn't have been good for them to stay together since all they would be doing is decaying. Since they'd be dead, they wouldn't have a good existence and eventually get bored since there wouldn't be much for them to do in the afterlife, especially since they couldn't have kids. It also goes because Victoria could have been killed as well, so all three of them could have been trapped in misery for eternity and never be set free. Maybe some could also think that Victor and Victoria's instant love was childish, and I feel that does happen in real life if the couple don't act realistic on their relationship and just wed on a crazy romantic whim. But I feel that Victor and Victoria are compatible, and they can outgrow their shyness and become stronger individuals eventually. I see Victoria being somewhat more articulate, confident, and less nervous than Victor, so I think she could help him become more confident than his parents ever could because she is very calm, patient, and understanding with him. I especially see that between them during the wedding rehearsal because she acts that way with him while Galswells and their parents all get mad and impatient with him for constantly messing up. As for Victor and Emily, whether she'd be alive or dead, I don't think she is very compatible with him in terms of their personalities. You described them correctly, but they can only balance each other if their differences give the other person what they want and need. I feel that since Emily is so lively and passionate with her emotions, I don't get the impression that she would be very calm, understanding, or patient with Victor, most especially whenever he would become shy or nervous. He said that he likes her enthusiasm, but I think if she does it too much, she can completely overwhelm him. As an example, I think he felt that way when she got mad at him and hysterically cried after he had lied to her; he seemed to be at a loss for words at first. And like CrisBxFBxATxN said, Emily is definitely naive and not always very bright because of how she trusts and believes too easily. She also does not seem to comprehend the most obvious situations, like how in the aforementioned scene, she still thought Victor proposed to her when he didn't. That's another thing: I'm not sure if he could always handle her naivete or ignorance of given situations. I wonder if some people would think that when he tells her that the two of them are too different, he was just saying that as an excuse to not be with her, and that they are only different because she's dead and he is alive. But the fact is that they are different, and those differences could split them apart whether they would be alive or dead. I don't want to sound cruel to any fans of this pairing, but Emily being dead is a big reason why they can't be together in order to be set free. Emily turns into butterflies because she finally finds peace and moves onto heaven. She then has eternal rest and will be happy without being married to do so, and Victor and Victoria will be forever grateful in the sacrifice she made in letting them stay together.

TheDoctornine Well I kind of feel sorry for Emily because she got murdered by some fancy pants motherf---ker especially before the happiest day of her life so I think that's pretty unfair because zombies are people too! She didn't really deserve to die because she is sweet, beautiful and kind-hearted. It would of been nice if someone like victor married her instead she finds peace which I thought was pretty sad

lillerrss I agree, I would have preferred Victor to marry Emily. I think in the end, this movie is just trying to say that love has no boundaries.

DiaAli13 I agree, but I also want to add that Victor was willing to die for Emily. Emily was willing to give up Victor. If you love someone enough to give up them or something you love, that's real and true love. That's how you know they really love you. Victoria knew he was with her and wouldn't give him up, which is love in it's own manner, but she wasn't willing to give him up, which ties to your first young love reasoning.
