I think Elena will be alone, maybe something happens to Damon. Something that will prevent them from being together now.

She won't choose Stefan - Only thing I know for sure. LOL. I say alone or with Damon and something prevents her from being with him in the finale.

She might decide to be alone or with Damon, but what will keep them apart doesn't have to be necessary a third person. Maybe it will be Damon himself, being tired of chasing Elena for so long? Maybe he will decide it's time she has to chase him.

I know people would like to see her single for a while, but hasn't she been for most of the season?

It makes sense to me that she chooses Damon, or everything will have seemed like it was for nothing. But yes, I agree that something bad will probably happen in the finale that stops them from being together :(
