The sun fell on Amber’s face and she woke up দ্বারা the heat of it. She rubbed her eyes, trying to orientate, as she saw a man sitting পরবর্তি to her. He looked familiar. As she tried to recall she felt an insistent pain in her neck. She lay her hand on it, to see what it was. “I bit you, that’s why you’re in pain” Stefan explained. Amber looked at him. “Who are you?” she asked, crawling backwards. Stefan reached out his hand. “I’m here to help you” he ব্যক্ত softly. Amber shook her head. “No, stay away from me!” she ব্যক্ত terrified. Stefan didn’t সরানো an inch. “You need help. You’re in transition, it’s not a nice feeling if আপনি don’t feed anytime soon. I bet you’re starving” he said. Amber shook her head heavily as her stomach rattled. “I’m going home” she ব্যক্ত with a breaking voice. “Leave me alone!” She scribbled up and staggered away from Stefan.

Damon's relationship with Matt is interesting in that, aside from Stefan, Matt is the only other male character present in the বই that isn't on the opposing side. Matt is also the only one who stands up to Damon and calls him on his behavior in a direct, human way (Dark Reunion). Damon seems to develop a guarded respect for Matt after this confrontation, perhaps admiring the courage it took to stand up to someone like Damon. Although Matt and Damon don't communicate much before অথবা after their confrontation, they seem to have an uneasy relationship of acquaintance going দ্বারা the end of Dark Reunion.
