"A... A trap! This is a trap!" shouted Light, pointing his right index finger at Near as if he were some নেকড়ে he stumbled upon in a deserted forest. "Near set this whole thing up to frame me! It's impossible that nobody's dead even after their names were written in the notebook. That proves that this is a trap!"
"What?" exclaimed Matsuda weakly.
"But I told আপনি that nobody would die because I replaced the pages," replied Near calmly, looking up at Light.
"W-well... Y-you..." stammered Light, not knowing what to use to save his skin th time. "It... It can't be... It's impossible..." then, he calmed down: "This is a setup. I don't know this man!" He gave Mikami a stare which seemed to almost literally stab Mikami, for he gave out something which sounded almost like a squeal of pain.
Everyone in the Task Force seemed to have had their world crash before them. All except for Aizawa, who stepped অগ্রবর্তী towards Light.
"Light..." he said, as he put a hand on his shoulder. "It's too late. Near wins. A সেকেন্ড ago, আপনি ব্যক্ত 'I win.' That's as good a confession as any."
Mogi also stepped forward, taking out a pair of handcuffs. He was less than a foot away from Light Yagami when the latter panicked again.
"S-stop it!" he shouted, knocking the handcuffs out of Mogi's hands and running as far as possible as he could, but, in his rush, he tripped and fell, crashing into one of the warehouse's walls, now almost hugging the cold concrete. Now he just looked pathetic.
"Light Yagami... L... Kira.... আপনি lose," declared Near. "You claimed your victory a moment ago. And to tell আপনি the truth, আপনি might have actually won. And I might have lost. We ended up doing exactly what আপনি expected us to. I altered the fake notebook in Mikami's possession. However, when I ব্যক্ত before that we had modified the notebook, I was actually referring to the real one as well as the fake. We only switched part of the fake notebook. But as for the real one, we replaced it entirely. This notebook here is actually the real one," taking yet another black notebook, identical with Mikami's, out of his large shirt.
"No!" shouted a distressed Light. "Impossible!!"
Near placed the two notebooks one পরবর্তি to each other and said:
"We used the same kind of pen that Mikami used, copied his handwriting perfectly and made both the inside and the outside of our fake look exactly like the original. Gevanni was able to do it in a single night. Of course, since I have touched the real notebook before coming, I've been able to see the shinigami as well."
"Oh?" exclaimed Ryuk the shinigami, mildly surprised as well as mildly entertained.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. shinigami. I'm Near."
"Heh, heh. Nice to meet আপনি too. My name is Ryuk."
"Some of the edges of this notebook's pages are torn," continued Near. "Tell me, if someone's name was written on a ripped off piece of paper, would they still die?"
"Oh, yeah," answered Ryuk nonchalantly. "Of course they would."
"I thought so. I bet আপনি were able to use that to your advantage. I wonder how many times you've been able to deceive us with this and how many people আপনি killed. Light Yagami, আপনি are Kira.
Another pause. Light frowned, taking a sudden, close look at Mikami from afar.
"You're mistaken," Near answered Light's thoughts. "This was all thanks to Mello and Volpes." He ব্যক্ত this while raising two figurines, which, upon a closer look, depicted each Mello and Volpes. The real Mello and Volpes smiled victoriously to one another, having heard that sentence very clearly. "I believe if I explain this much, you'll begin to understand. Please, take a look at this page of the notebook," Near said, again holding up the notebook.
Takada's name was written in the Death Note. She was supposed to commit suicide দ্বারা setting আগুন to everything around her, including herself, but most of all 'what she wrote'.
"I-If Takada is in a situation like that, then it's my job to..." tried Mikami to argument as Light Yagami threw him another murderous stare.
"It's all true," ব্যক্ত Near. "On the 26th, right after Takada's kidnapping was broadcast on the news, Mikami went to the bank."
"I've been trailing him," ব্যক্ত the agent whose name was Gevanni. "I knew he went to the bank every মাস on the 25th. So, it was odd for someone so methodical to go to the bank twice in two days. I followed Mikami to the bank as he headed for the নিরাপদ deposit boxes. It was only at this time that he seemed concerned whether someone was following him অথবা not. I got into his নিরাপদ deposit box. Inside was the real notebook. Sure enough, Takada's name had already been written inside it."
"Do আপনি understand now, Light Yagami? আপনি didn't realize that Mikami made a সরানো on his own and wrote Takada's name in his notebook. We were able to stop আপনি thanks to the effort of two people. It was Mello and Volpes who did it all.
"Thank you, Near," ব্যক্ত Mello from the platform above, loud enough to be hear দ্বারা everybody on the ground. He and Volpes stepped forward, out of the shadows and closer to the edge of the platform, thus they were now easy to see.
"Indeed, thanks for giving us the credit," continued Volpes.
Everyone looked above. The two were now walking across the platform towars the first set of stairs.
"Volpes?" ব্যক্ত Blaire, আরো to herself. "You're alive!" she then shouted, almost crying with joy.
Mello and Volpes stopped at the landing between the two sets of stairs.
Near smiled his childish smile.
"Mello, Volpes," he said.
"Near," the two said, once again at the same time.
"I bet আপনি two knew in your hearts that, working দ্বারা ourselves, neither of us would be able to attain our goals. But together..." started Near, প্রদর্শিত হচ্ছে five figurines, which now turned out to be finger-puppets, one on each finger: they each represented Near, Blaire, Mello, Volpes and L. A low creak was barely heard, but nobody paid any attention to it. At least, not until another voice was heard from the heavy iron door:
"I'm afraid your theory is not entirely correct. I have not been defeated দ্বারা Kira. Not entirely."
Everyone turned to look at the speaker, though not everybody recognized him: the SPK members have never seen L.
"I win, Light Yagami," he continued.
"What?!" shouted Light. It seemed like everything he had planned came crashing to the ground.
"You might still remember the দিন when Watari announced my death. He came up with this plan, and I agreed. He wanted me to choose my successor right then, but I considered it to be impossible to choose only one. And I still believe that. If I wouldn't have returned to the shadows, I probably would've died that day, along with Watari. The only one who knew of this plan, other than Watari and me, of course, was Blaire. During the past five years, she gathered all the information for me from right under your nose, Light Yagami. Thus, I knew all of your moves. It was quite a simple plan which was effective, and proved the fact that আপনি are Kira."
After a short break, Light started laughing.
"That's right," he said, "I am Kira. So now, what? Are আপনি going to kill me right here? Listen. I'm Kira. And the god of this new world. Kira is the law in the world we now live in. He's the one maintaining order. I have become justice. The only hope for mankind. Heh. Kill me? Is that really the right thing to do? Since Kira's appearance 6 years পূর্বে wars have stopped and global crime rates have been reduced দ্বারা over 70 percent! But it's not enough! This world is still rotting! With too many rotten people... Somebody has to do this! When I first got that notebook all these years ago, I knew I had to do it. No. I was the only one who could! I understood that killing people was a crime. There was no other way! The world had to be fixed! The purpose প্রদত্ত to me... Only I could do it. Who else would've done it and come this far?! The only who can create a new world is me."
"No," called Mello. He was smirking at Light.
"You're just a murderer, Light Yagami," continued Volpes in an ironic tone.
"And this book is the deadliest weapon of mass murder in the history of mankind," continued Near.
"You used the power of the shinigami and the notebook and আপনি have confused yourself with a god," added Blaire.
"In the end, you're nothing আরো than a crazy serial killer," concluded Near. "That's all আপনি are. Nothing আরো and nothing less."
"Near!" called Light after another break. "Here's some খাবার for thought. That notebook আপনি have and the one Aizawa brought from the Japanese Task Force Headquarters. Are they both real?"
Neither Near nor nobody ব্যক্ত anything. এল-মৃত্যু পত্র stood calm, Blaire glanced at Light suspiciously and Mello and Volpes watched with even greater interest.
"At the moment, only I know where the real notebook is," concluded Light, walking towards the দেওয়াল in which he had crashed earlier, thus turning his back to the people watching him. "If আপনি truly want to defeat Kira as well as test the notebook Aizawa's carrying, I guess you'll have to write down either my name অথবা Mikami's. It's the only way to see if it's real... অথবা fake!"
Light turned and put a pen of his on a piece of paper which he had hidden somewhere.
Matsuda pointed his gun at Light and shot once.
"Matsuda!" exclaimed Ide, bewildered.
"Matsuda, আপনি idiot!!" screamed Light. " Who do আপনি think you're shooting at?! Don't screw with me!! If you're going to shoot someone, shoot the others! What do আপনি think you're doing?! Matsuda, I thought আপনি were the only person who understood me. Kira is righteous! Kira is needed! Shoot! Shoot Near, the SPK members, Aizawa and the others!
Matsuda asked, still pointing his gun at Yagami:
"What was it all for, then? The chie- no, deputy director... Deputy Director Yagami... He was your father... What the hell did he die for?!"
"My dad? Are আপনি talking about Soichiro Yagami? That's right, Matsuda. Overly earnest people with a strong sense of justice like him always end up the loser. Do আপনি want a world here people like him are always made fools of?!"
"You drove your father to his death, and now you're trying to change the subject telling me that he was made a fool..."
"A society, a world where people like my father will never have to be made into fools... Soichiro Yagami died to create that. I'm telling আপনি to kill the others so that his death was not in vain! Can't আপনি understand me?!"
Matsuda ব্যক্ত nothing. He was crying with fury, now. After about three seconds, Yagami attempted his last murder again, trying to write the rest of the name using the blood which was dripping from his shot hand.
Matsuda shot him four times before Light had the chance to finish লেখা the name.
"I have to kill him,said Matsuda, getting closer to Light. "This guy has got to die!"
"Stp it, Matsuda!" shouted Ide.
"Don't do it!" ordered Aizawa.
But the three Japanese policemen had to restrain Matsuda in order to stop him. He missed Light's head, shooting the concrete floor only a few inches away from Yagami's head. The latter looked in awe at the new crack in the floor, surprised to be still alive. He rolled on his back, trying to look at Mikami.
"Mikami!" he called. "What are আপনি doing? Help me! Write their names down! Kill them!" Light struggled to get up from the floor, but he fell like a rag doll back on the ground. "Kill them... That's your job... What are আপনি doing?!"
"How could I write their names down... In a situation like this... And with a fake notebook..." Mikami seemed to be losing his faith and get angry. "You're not god!" he shouted, finally. "What the hell is this? Look what you've gotten me into. You're not god, you're just scum!"
"Damn you!" muttered Light, again trying to gt back on his feet.
"Since he had that piece carefully hidden in his watch, he probably doesn't have any more," concluded Near, watching Aizawa pik up the torn page which Yagami tried to use and take a close look at it.
"Yes," agreed Ide and Mogi.
"Mogi, Ide," called Aizawa. "Help me arrest Kira, Light Yagami, the mass murderer."
"Stop it!" shouted Kira, Light Yagami, trying to crawl away from the policemen. "Don't come near me!" He gasped, still dragging himself away from the others. "M-Misa... Where's Msa?! Misa, kill them. Kill these guys..."
"Misa Amane is at the Teito Hotel right now," answered Near.
"Hotel? What is that idiot doing at a time like this? Takada... Where's Takada...? Kill them... Write their names down..."
"Kiyomi Takada is dead," answered Near, again.
"Dead?! S-somebody... Anybody..."
"Near. It's over at last," concluded Rester/Carter.
"Somebody... Kill these guys..." kept Light insisting.
Aizawa walked closer to Light and said:
"Light, it's over. If আপনি don't give up, you're going to bleed to death."
"D-don't come near me," ordered Yagami. "K-kill them. Somebody kill them for me..." Then, he looked up at Ryuk the shinigami. "Ryuk... I know! Ryuk, আপনি can write the names down... Write their names down into your notebook." everybody froze. "Write it, Ryuk. Hurry!!"
"D-don't do it, Ryuk!" called Aizawa, as he, Ide, and the other SPK members took out their বন্দুক and pointed them at the shinigami.
"Don't worry," ব্যক্ত Near. "If that shinigami is willing to write our names down when asked, then that's all Kira had to do from the start. So it means that Ryuk does not assist Kira in those ways."
"P-please, Ryuk..." begged Yagami. "you're all I've got left to rely on! Please write the names down!"
Ryuk paused before raising a strange bar which seemed to be some sort of pen and say:
"Sure... I'll write it."
"What?" exclaimed Ide.
"Ryuk," ব্যক্ত Yagami smiling a devious smile.
"Stop it!" yelled the policemen, shooting the shinigami as he wrote something in the Death Note.
"Sorry," he said. "I'm a shinigami, so আপনি can't kill me with those things, and the stuff in the human world can't touch my notebook unless I allow it."
Light Yagami stated laughing. "Sucks to be you!" he shouted, addressing to এল-মৃত্যু পত্র and his successors. "The only choice আপনি had was to kill me right away! But now that Ryuk's decided to write your names down, nobody can stop him! It's too late, you're all going to die!"
"No, Light. The one who's going to die is you."
"Ryuk, you... You... Stop it!" Light lunged at Ryuk, but he fell through him.
"No matter how আপনি look at it, you've lost, Light. I was kind of expecting to see আপনি get out of this one, but if I'm your last resort... আপনি really are done for. You've eased my boredom for quite a long time, haven't you? It was a lot of fun."
"A-am I going to die?!" shouted Yagami. "I'm going to die!
"That's right," replied Ryuk, প্রদর্শিত হচ্ছে Light the notebook. "In forty সেকেন্ড you'll have a হৃদয় attack. It's already been decided upon."
"I-I'm going to die," concluded Light, his hope now gone. "N... N... No... I don't want to die. I don't want to die! Damn it! Stop it! I don't want to die!"
Light grabbed Ryuk's belt, this time not falling through the shinigami.
"You sound o undignified," Ryuk told him. "It's not like you, Light. I told আপনি in the very beginning that I would be the one লেখা your name in the notebook when আপনি die. That is the rule between the shinigami who brings the notebook into the human realm and the first human who picks up the notebook. If they put আপনি in prison, who knows when you'll die? I don't want to just lie around waiting for আপনি to die, so it's all over. আপনি should die right here.
"N-no!" shouted Light. I don't want to die! I don't want to go to prison either! Do something! I know there's a way out of it, Ryuk!!"
"Once a name is written down in the Death Note, আপনি can't do anything about it. আপনি আরো than everybody else here should know that. Goodbye, Light Yagami."
Silence. Matsuda, who was sitting on the floor, got up and headed towards Yagami.
"Light..." he muttered, but was stopped দ্বারা Aizawa.
"Matsuda! What is it this time, sympathy?"
Then, suddenly, Light screamed:
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE! I DON'T WANT TO GO!"
Then, he just dropped. He fell back on the ground, and, thus, greeted death. But only death he greeted that day.
