The part with the boy taking his father's place is still interesting but whatever, but Mulan being the general and teaching the men would be REALLY cool.

I think what makes the movie 'Mulan' what it is is the fact that a girl took her father's place in the army. If it was a boy, it'd still be good, but nothing too extraordinary in comparison.

It's Mulan! It's all about that whole girl taking her father's place. If she was a boy instead it would ruin the movie.

Think about. Gender roles switched? THEN FEMALE SOLDIERS IS THE FREAKING NORM IN THAT UNIVERSE OMG.

This is definitely the movie that would be affected the most. I mean, seriously, would there even be a plot? There simply had to be one male going, we even see a son volunteer instead. It was completely normal, even expected. It would just be a movie about another soldier, and while that would certainly be interesting, it wouldn't be the same without the character having to conceal their identity. It might be interesting if the plot of Mulan concealing her identity was kept and she was found out and all these men realized that their leader had really been a woman this whole time. Actually, I think I'd be really interested in that movie! I doubt I'd like it more than my Mulan, though.
