I'm not sure. If I was Jasmine I would never forgive Aladdin for being a jerk and a liar. As about Ariel and Eric we don't really see how well they know each other.

KataraLover picked Ariel and Eric:
These two couples are both love at first sight for the protagonists and their love interest loves them but they can't be together for different reasons. Then when they can finally be together the love interest doesn't know who they are (though Jasmine figures it out) and they have to get to know each other. So now the Disney Princesses have three categories: love at first sight, getting to know each other, and whatever you wanna call this.

Anyway I love both couples but in my opinion Ariel and Eric are one of the best fictional couples EVER!

KataraLover picked Ariel and Eric:
manu962 They spent two whole days together (the third day didn't count because he was hypnotized) so they were bound to learn something about each other, at least by Disney and Fairy-Tale time logic. Ariel can't say anything so she has to get him to fall in love with her by having them get to know each other. Ariel already knew he was kind, brave, sweet, humble, fun, playful, and was good to living creatures when she was spying on him and when he saved Max. Eric enjoyed her company because she wasn't like anyone he ever met before because she was hyper, active, childish, curious, adventurous, and silly and he loved it all.

I feel that Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship (at first) is more based on pretension and posing. I think Ariel and Eric's relationship is more open because if Ariel can talk, I'm sure she'll tell Eric that she's the one that saves his life.

I did find the relationship of Aladdin and Jasmine as one of opportunity. Aladdin asks the genie if he can make "Jasmine fall in love with him!" UGH. I'd rather have Eric fall in love with Ariel for the sake of being saved, and because of her beautiful voice, even if he never saw her fully--- rather than using "magic" or some manipulative disguise.

I think, because Ariel just wanted to talk to Eric, theirs was a more real relationship. Ariel didn't try to use magic to make Eric fall in love with her. She had to use, to quote Ursula, her "body language."

By far!

Aladdin and Jasmine spend time together, and are able to recognize each other based on little quirks and mannerisms beyond a beautiful voice or face.

Aladdin sees that Jasmine is compassionate when she gives food to a hungry child, clever when she catches onto his con and plays along when he saves her from the shop-keeper, adaptable when she learns to jump a building just by watching him, feels the same way about life as him when they both admit they feel trapped by the system, and on the same wave length as him as they can have a double conversation about "Abbu" offering her compassion. When Genie later asks about the girl Aladdin likes, the first thing he says is "She's smart and fun..." Genie is the one who has to bring up her beauty, and even then Aladdin says "She's got these eyes... and her smile." Eyes are a window into the soul, and her smile can say so much about her sweet nature. If he loves that about her, then I think personality can be a big indicator.

Jasmine - need I ever say it? - recognizes little mannerisms and quirks about Aladdin, not just his appearance. She recognizes him despite his princely clothes, but lets him talk her out of recognizing him when he claims he's never been to the market. However, little things about him like the way he says "Do you trust me?" the way he lets an apple roll down his arm and bop it over to her with his elbow, etc. convinces her that it's really him.

Ariel only knows Eric is handsome, and never really learns anything about him beyond that. He only knows his dream girl has "The most beautiful voice!" and continues to pine over "That voice" alone. Her smile, eyes, warmth, loving touch? Nope! None of that made an impression. Even when he sees her again and thinks she looks familiar, he IMMEDIATELY writes her off as soon as he realizes she can't speak. Eric isn't even really invested in her after that, even after Grims says "Far better than any dream girl is one of flesh and blood. One warm and caring, and right before your eyes!" When he throws the recorder away, he clearly looks like he's settling for less, and still rushes to see who has the voice when he hears it. He doesn't even fall for Ariel till she gets her voice back. "You-you can talk?! You're the one!"

I'm sorry, but to me, mannerisms, quirks, intelligence, personality, and good character trump a pretty face and voice.
