I wish they would do one, because I prefer BY FAR hand-drawn animation, but apparently they believe that people are attracted only to CGI now, because they think it's for adults too, which might be actually true (not the fact that only CGI films are for adults, I'm talking about the fact that people don't like 2-d for this reason, this might be true)
I think it's just ridiculous! 2-D animation is what started all the movies we have today. Before Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, movies were just a few minutes long. It was the first movie that was an hour and a half long. It appealed to both kids and adults. Cinderella has inspired a lot of people. The Little Mermaid started a golden era (the Renaissance) of the girl being able to save the guy as much as they save them, did something really new for films, and even helped mend many strained relationships. Let's not forget Beauty and The Beast, the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture, back then that was unheard of and while it didn't win it was still a big deal. The Lion King both managed to make people have a death that made people cry as hard as they did in Bambi and was the highest grossing animated movie EVER until Frozen came along. So I think people really have forgotten what 2-D animated films are capable of and are letting this beautiful art die. If I ever work at Disney I'm making sure that 2-D animation doesn't die!
Guys, have faith! So many things came in and out of fashion. The same thing happens to movies and animation. Just wait, and in twenty years or more we'll have a hand-drawn Disney movie again.
And mass audiences no longer like going to see hand-drawn films. People will forgive TERRIBLE movies just because they have CGI (every bottom-of-the-barrel DreamWorks and cheap CGI Dr. Seuss adaptation), but if an otherwise perfect hand-drawn film has ONE flaw, people will hold that flaw against it and refuse to see it. Thank you, general audiences.
^ This is the hard reality. But I'll change my voice to yes, because I like Gus and misscindyspice said, we have to keep hoping that someday they'll decide to go back to their roots *plays A dream is a wish your heart makes*. Also, KL, please work at Disney, you can't imagine how many people you'll make happy! And you're stubborn enough and with good arguments to convince them to start making hand-drawn films again (besides the fact that you're gonna make epic movies).
I've studied 3D animation for one semester 3 years ago. I wanted to study only 2D so bad but there were no programs for that because hand-drawn animation is dying. And I agree reviews and the general audience are harder on 2D than 3D.
Well all my thoughts have been said, but I most certainly hope so, I am sick of CGI and 2D animation is beautiful and what started it all. They blame it again on Tiana, they will get hate mail from me and alot of others. And I will boycott future films.
I prefer hand drawn animation so much more than CGI... but I don't think will ever have another hand Drawn Disney movie,CGI movie are more successful and Disney gutted their hand drawn department :/
I hope so, but I doubt it. But I need to have faith...in my dreams and someday my rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how my heart is grieving if I keep on believe....2-D animation, might come back...
I'm so sick of CG. 2D is gorgeous and needs to come back.
