Well, this is her best quality. The rest of her excessively opinionated and harsh-critiquing personality, I pretty much detest.

I actually like the warmth she shows to the few people she truly cares most about. people seem tot forget that though.

^Sure, it's easy for someone to "be kind" to people that they like. That takes, like, no inner strength whatsoever... But how about loving or tolerating people who abuse you? Now that takes some serious guts. Tiana is only kind to the people she likes, so she's not impressing anybody at all. That takes no strength of character. Cinderella does circles around Tiana, because Cindy is STILL being kind to her abusive step-family, even after they continually mistreat her!

i dont see the point of tolerating abusive people at all. Sure, if you've got no option of going anywhere, one must have the strength to tolerate them but honestly, abusive people don't deserve kindness and should rather be reported to authorities than being tolerated.
And she's expressively kind to people she cares about and keeps to herself when she's around stranger, which is not really unkind behaviour.

^Have you had an abusive boss? Sometimes "reporting them" just escalates the issue, and not being kind to them, only exacerbates the already bad circumstances. ( The abusers tend to think you're being disrespectful to them, so kindness works as a stopgap measure). I've also lived with some "abuse" from people, because I have had no option but to do so.

The fact that Tiana is only kind to the people she loves makes her no better than anyone else, and it certainly does not make her more "mature." Tiana does more than keep to herself around strangers... She openly "nags"and "critiques" the people she does not "love." Tiana does not follow the Golden Rule, so she's just an average girl.

If you fight for right reasons, there'll be issues from unwanted party obviously who will want to control you, take advantage. Its better to face those consequences for fighting for morally right thing than to tolerate unjust abuse from people.
Whom does she nags and critiques? Don't remember that at all. She was even kind to a strange frog who claimed to be a prince, even though she detested kissing a frog.

^ I seem to remember her "sassing" the frog and hitting him with a book several times, even though I myself would have been really too curious at a talking frog to even think about hitting him... Hmm. And Tiana was lecturing Naveen on how "he didn't know how to do anything," ( which was only partially true), and she lectured Ray " for loving a star" when it was SO NOT her place to do so. You don't get to "slam" other people's romantic choices, when you are upset and angry. That shows a profound lack of self-control...

Oh, I've stood up to my mother so many times, I've lost count... All THAT ever did was get me punished, and I've received the lethal eyed stare/ cold treatment for days after each instance. This has been going off and on since I was a little kid. ( I definitely was not the best child; I had trouble with math and history and science in the early days, but I turned half-rebel/disobedient because my mother gave me almost no autonomy to think for myself). Now, as an adult, I have to tolerate this because I am financially in the hole thanks to my education; I'm jobless even though I have actively searched and applied to jobs for three years ( and I lost the two part-time gigs I had); I cannot move out, currently, cause that takes moolah. Tiana reminds me of a lot of negative and harsh people who've been in my life ( bosses/teachers/classmates/even meddlesome strangers whom I've never even met before in my life, have walked over and given me lectures about my clothes and jewelry-- hahaha). My own mother, always takes the "others' " side. She never really sees things from my point of view. My mother is big on drumming up "threats" to keep me "in line." Tiana's excessive snarkiness drives me nuts throughout the movie, since she has nothing nice to say, and always has an "unsolicited opinion."

^Hmm... I can see your view point and how it has developed considering your situation. But don't find the situations mentioned as alarming and obnoxious so as to be considered unkind and mean. Everyone, once in a while, breaks down to express the misery of life. Even after working so hard and passionate and dedicated to fulfill the dream she and her father has cherished, she could see that slipping from her hands all too easily. The reality does suck sometimes. Its just like Cinderella, breaking down in the forest, to say "There's no hope." You express your joy, your sorrow, your misery, your hopes to someone you become close to or sometimes they truly are just for yourself, but spoken loudly.
I agree that it wasn't her place to tell Ray about his romantic choices. But don't agree that it shows lack of control, it shows an open view from her stand point. She doesn't outrightly say it to Ray but after hearing it couple of times only. So like Ray was sharing his fancies and views, she expressed her views on the same. And everyone's telling her as well why she gotta work so much, while she politely says its her choice.

I appreciate you coming out as frank as you did. Hope and sincerely wish, that you succeed while upstanding your morals :)

I love that Tiana is straightforward and honest but I really love that she doesn't make excuses for shortcomings and mistakes. I love her accountability and self-control. I love that she isn't vain, selfish or living in a fantasy and trying to force other people to lie to her just to be content. I believe that the fact that she deals with facts and reality is why she was able to reach her dreams and I completely 100% admire that.

I love that she isn't focused at romance( which makes her similar to me) and cooks well. I love to eat!
