For me, Mulan especially. She is just as insecure and has just has many problems as many of us, yet she demonstrates independence over her struggles like a total boss. Sometimes I wonder if my username should have been mulanisboss.

No, I think the term of role model has affected the princesses more than it should. Female characters are often criticize for any act they do and not proper "role models" yet boys are never pressured into having role models so all the male characters can have all the conflicting drama and flaws while the girls must always be pressured into following a code. it's annoying.
