I don't think they had any real flaws in mind like Tiana's narrow mind, Anna's and Snow's naivety, Merida's recklessness, etc. because they really wanted you to root for her and relate to her, and most people don't want to relate to people with traits they dislike. So at best we hear she's "odd" but the movie and audience both know Belle isn't really weird, it's everyone else who is wrong to think so just because she enjoys a hobby the other women in the town don't.

I think she's as idealized as the Classics, and the movie is kind of dishonest about her flaws. Snobbery, shifting blame, self rationalizing, etc are extremely realistic, good flaws but the movie never paints them that way, because it intends for you to side with Belle.

what AudreyFreak said. She has some flaws which are overshadowed by the good side of the coin. She is written in a typical role-model kind of a way. They have even covered the flaws that classics are usually associated with - naivety, too-good-to-be-true by showing one odd incidence that will purposely tackle how she's overcoming that flaw.

I do agree with AudreyFreak. The movie as written is shifting the audience to side with Belle---so that Belle's flaws aren't as apparent. However, Belle has them.

I don't like being manipulated. And I recognized this tactic as a kid.

And, Belle totally missed the opportunity to impress me/ make me like her when I was a kid. Disney totally dropped the ball. I didn't root for Belle.

And to be quite honest, a lot of my classmates in real life acted just like Belle does-- they were openly dismissive, arrogant, and detached. Belle does these things and people call her a role model. Did that make my classmates role models, too?

I never understand why people keep saying that she has no flaws. Sometimes she can be stubborn, being overpride towards herself, and have tendency to blame others instead of blame herself. But I agree with comments above that said her flaws are overshadowed by her good traits, as she was supposed to be a good role model.

^because the movie doesn't want them to be seen as flaws; it doesn't even consider them flaws. It wants you to idealize Belle. I already explained the movie presents Belle as right in what she does because you're supposed to side with her. It's the Beast, Gaston, the other villagers, and some of the Beast's servants who are ever portrayed as needing to change, imperfect, etc.

They are there, but presented in a more positive light.
