I've always thought they'd be friends.

They're both inquisitive (Poca wanted to know about the white men, Ariel, about humans in general), and are different from everyone else in their nations/kingdoms. My second choice would be Jasmine.

How so? I get the wanting to be free thing, but whereas Jasmine is spunky and doesn't take any crap, Ariel is more silly and laid back.

I think Belle would LOVE knowing stuff about Ariel's world, and viceversa. They could spend hours and hours chatting and telling each other stories and Ariel looking all intrigued at the inventions that Belle's father made and that stuff.
So yeah, Belle. I was going to pick Jasmine too, but then Idk, Jasmine is more like... queen-bee-type, and Ariel is more like compeletely bubbly and excited and... Idk, I just feel like Jasmine would hang out with her at nights but would probbably not stand her during the day xDDDD

^ wtf i wasnt insulting her, i just think she would get along with the bimbettes. she wants love and she falls in love with Eric because of his looks. if she lived in Belle's time I'm sure she'd find Gaston attractive and would gossip about him with the Bimbette's. i wasnt calling her a bimbo or dumb, because shes anything but that. i was just saying what i think. and what do you mean by less attractive sisters? i actually think Arista is prettier than Ariel (you're gonna flame me for this but i dont give a shit, quite frankly)

They have a lot in common...both are royal by birth, both kinda have that "spolied little rich girl" syndrome going for them, and both fell in love at first sight. I think they'd get along great.

I said less attractive sisters because their not as pretty as her they wish they were as pretty and she didn't fall in love with his looks and in the series there was this prince who was just like Gaston and Ariel couldn't be less attracted to him even if she tried

^ But thats your opinion. In my opinion Arista is prettier than Ariel, but Ariel is prettier than all of the other sisters. Im talking mainly about the third movie because you dont see much of her sisters in the first one. She DID fall in love with Eric's looks!!! How can you say she didnt? Why do you have to defend everything bad about Ariel? And btw its not even like im insulting Ariel, because im NOT. I actually like Ariel. But that doesnt mean she didnt fall in love at first sight. The same goes for Cinderella. Cinderella is my 2nd favourite Princess but i dont pretend she didnt fall in love at first sight, because she DID! Ariel didnt know Eric's personality before she decided she wanted to be with him -- he couldve held her hostage in a dungeon for all she knew. She DID fall in love because of looks! She didnt know him personally, did she? But I said if she lived in Belle's time.. IF!! If she lived in Belle's time she likely wouldnt have a boyfriend (since she'd probably be like Belle and think alot of the town was boring) -- except Gaston who was different to everyone else in the town!! She'd swoon over Gaston like most other teenage girls would in that time (except Belle obviously!) Oh and btw I havent seen the Tv series so i cant exactly comment on that. I cant argue against something ive never seen.

Mongoose, I actually agree with KataraLover in this case. Ariel did love Eric because he was handsome, this is true. But she saw him playing with his dog, awkwardly accepting his birthday present, and helping rescue people during the storm. She fell in love with him as a whole because he also did sweet things. Ariel would probably see Gaston, think he's handsome, and then the second Gaston acts arrogant and rude, she'd lose interest. You know what I mean? Just my opinion.

they both follow their dreams and stop at nothing to get them. they do horrible things (sacrifice her voice, turn into a frog) just for a human body or her own restaurant.

I completely agree well almost she would see her less attravtive bimbo sisters and those other bimbos fall for him and she'll think he's handsome but and of course she would be the one he wants for his bride because the more beautiful than her less attractive bimbo sisters and those other bimbos put together and she would see what a sexist rude arrigant brainless pig he is and of course regect him and he would keep going after the most beautiful girl who is the only one he wants and is the only one who can resiste him
