I know that they barely spend ANY time with each other, but I simply find it IMPOSSIBLE to NOT love them. They are so sweet and perfect it's almost irritating. They both light up when they're together. It's magic.
Ariel & Eric
I have always loved Ariel and Eric, but put them together and my heart almost explodes. They are so great together. I watched The Little Mermaid the other day, and I literally had butterflies while watching them. I love how Ariel pursues Eric, and how it takes him a while to fall in love with her.
Aurora and Phillip: I don't like their relationship during the first Once Upon a Dream. First Phillip, in a nutshell stalks her and dances with her. Aurora knows better but then to talk to strangers since she's been told that HER ENTIRE LIFE. But then she goes 'eh what the heck' and decides to listen to the person she met 15 seconds ago, perfectly reasonable. I still think Phillip is a creep but the way he and Aurora look at each other at the end of the movie when they're walking down the stairs and dancing to Once Upon a Dream Reprise is precious.
Aladdin and Jasmine: Yeah I know. He lies and she's a bitch but I can't stop loving this couple even if I tried. The constant lying is awful but they are clearly a match made in heaven and I think they are really sweet together. They have amazing chemistry and come on, he liked her before he found out she was a princess and wouldn't have minded living out his days in the streets with her. I just love these two and I guess they're one of those couples you love or you hate.
Belle and Beast: I love how their romance builds and builds from hating each other to love each other. I love the scene where they are dancing, they are so adorable.
Ariel and Eric: If only they had a bit more dialouge between each other, but I still love them very much. I love how even though Ariel can't speak Eric still is interested in her and invites her to the castle.
Pocahontas and John Smith: This couple is too realistic to me, I prefer the non realistic couples. I also don't like that they didn't end up with each other.
Jasmine and Aladdin: This couple dosen't fit together at all because Aladdin is such a liar all the time. Their first meeting is pretty funny though.
Mulan and Shang: They are not a couple, they are just best friends, seriously it dosen't look like they want to be in love with each other at all.
Rapunzel & Flynn- my issue with this couple is the jumping around in the buildup. They actually build up well until the campfire scene, here I see a hint of a closer friendship and a crush on Rapunzel's part, but then it jumps to 'true love' in literally half a day. If you're going to do falling in love, then you need steady pacing. That's why the only couple of such I like is Belle/Beast, and I only like the, not love them. I love Odette & Derek, and that's about it.
Not to mention I think they're a really poor match who will have nothing to talk about, and but we never really saw how Flynn's progression took place. It just came up for the sake of keeping the story going.
Mulan & Shang- I am convinced Shang is gay and felt a duty to pursue Mulan rather than genuine attraction. And I agree with what sweetie-94 said.
Aladdin & Jasmine- phantomrose- If you haven't read it, I wrote an entire article on my dislike of Aladdin and why Jasmine won't be in my top 3. Have you read it? It should be in my articles section, it will share my opinion of this couple.
@hisblueeyes- Actually, Aladdin & Jasmine consistently come high , and have won sometimes, in couples countdowns.
I love how they fall gradually in love. And not only the fact that Belle can see him through his beastly outside, but also from his side, how he makes sacrifices for her> letting her go to her father instead of keeping her prisoner with him. I think the ballroom dance in the movie is the most beautiful and romantic of Disney's.
Least Favorite:Cinderella and Charming
They hardly met at all and jumped into marriage. I know, it's a farytale and all, but I still can't like the couple. Charming's character isn't developed enough. I'm surprised how many people complain about Aurora's personality and not say a word about Charming. His and Cinderella's character couldn't be any different: she's hard working, humble girl; he's a lazy royalty member who doesn't do anything for his suppossed love, he instead sends someone else to find the girl to fit the crystal shoe. I admit I don't like the couple because of him, and I feel sorry for Cinderella that that puts her in my last spot.
Aladdin and Jasmine: I really hate this couple. I hate that Aladdin constantly lies to Jasmine about who he is, because he thinks Jasmine is selfish or something and and would laugh at him because he's poor. I hate that even when she busts him, he continues to lie! I feel that he only cares about her wealth and looks. I also don't like how Jasmine immediately forgives him. You think he would've learned his lesson by the end, but he CONTINUES to lie to her in the sequels! I loathe this couple, I really do.
Mulan and Shang: It just...comes out of nowhere. I personally prefer them as buddies rather than lovers. It's like really late in making it or something, they said "Oh, we have to make them fall in love." and so had him come to her house at the end. It's just thrown in there at the end and is really rushed.
(Also, I know I have a love at first sight couple near the top of my list and I stated I love that Belle and Beast didn't fall in love fast. LOL I just can't help that I love Snow and her Prince.)
Rapunzel and Flynn are the best developed love story - I like that they didn't start out as enemies or as love at the first sight, but as two people who both a have goal and use each other to reach it, and then start to help each other out. I like the near death experience as belivable motivation to open up to each other. I love small details like Rapunzel calling Flynn "Eugene" and everything Flynn does to make sure that she gets her perfect dream. And naturally how dedicated they are to each other.
And for the same reason Snow White and the Prince are my favorite "love at first sight" pairing, because they are truly dedicated to each other. Plus, the movie doesn't even pretent that this is realistic, so it's much easier to simply feel the romance.
Dislike: Tiana and Naveen. Seriously, that guy is a womanizer, one who plans to marry rich in order to finance his high life. In real life he would be gone with one of the waitresses and Tiana's money one or two years later. And I really dislike the "hate to love" trope, especially since Naveen is even more couchie towards Tiana than the Beast to Belle. I don't even get WHY they fall in love with each other.
Cinderella and Charming: Well, at least the movie aknowledges how unreal the whole thing is, but seriously, Charming doesn't do anything to find his supposedly true love, not even telling his father off for meddling! Nobody even asks Cinderella if she wants to marry!
Aladdin and Jasmine: It's like the movie is trying to tell me one thing, but I see something else. I mean they more or less tell each other what they really want during their very first meeting, but do they listen to each other? No, Aladdin still assumes she wants a prince, Jasmine still assumes that he is a prince even though he more or less told her that he is poor, and it doesn't help that the most important relationship in the movie is the friendship between Aladdin and the Genie, and not the love story.
Mulan and Shang - I Love This Couple Too But It's No Romance at Last Only
