i thought Merida was the wrong one in the movie, didn't know people see Elinor wrong as well...Anyways, same as before. She couldnt learn from her mistakes and from her past experience and made her daughter experience the same "trapped" feeling that she so desperately wanted to get out of

While I understand that Ariel just wanted to protect her daughter, she should´ve told her about her about her mermaid heritage. She also could have told Melody the reason of why she wasn´t allowed into the sea. Being lied to only makes things worse.
