Internationally-acclaimed, Harlem-born singer Sandi Russell first learned of Ella through her parents, who met at the famed Savoy Ballroom, where Ella was singing. When Sandi heard her in person, Ella’s voice and presence were a revelation – she inspired Sandi to become a jazz singer. This multi-media show, which also features Sandi’s band as well as archival images of Ella’s America and fellow musicians, will give new depth and dimension to the life and work of the first lady of jazz.
