"EMMA" (1972) Review

I am aware of at least four adaptation of Jane Austen's 1815 novel, "Emma". But I have noticed that the one adaptation that rarely attracts the attention of the novelist's অনুরাগী is the 1972 BBC miniseries, "EMMA".

Directed দ্বারা John Glenister and adapted দ্বারা Denis Constanduros, "EMMA" told the story of the precocious younger daughter of a wealthy landowner that resides near the village of Highbury. Emma Woodhouse imagines herself to be naturally gifted matchmaker, following her self-declared success in arranging a প্রণয় match between her governess and Mr. Weston, a village widower....

Several months after Miramax had released Douglas McGrath’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel, "Emma", another version aired on the BBC and later, on the A&E Channel in the U.S. This version turned out to be a 107-minute teleplay, adapted দ্বারা screenwriter Andrew Davies and directed দ্বারা Diarmuid Lawrence.

As many Jane Austen অনুরাগী know, "EMMA" told the story of the younger daughter of an English Regency landowner, with a penchant for meddling in the lives of বন্ধু and neighbors. Her meddling in the প্রণয় life of her new protégé – a young woman named Harriet Smith – ended up...

The last adaptation I watched turned out to be writer/director Douglas McGrath's 1996 film, which starred Gwyneth Paltrow.

Although the actress had been working for a few years, it was her performance as Emma Woodhouse that put her on the map to stardom. In fact, I would say that "EMMA" also proved to be a professional...

"EMMA" (2009) Review

After a great deal of delay, I finally sat down to watch "EMMA", the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel. First seen on the BBC during the fall of 2009, this four-part miniseries had been adapted দ্বারা Sandy Welch and directed দ্বারা Jim O’Hanlon.

"EMMA" followed the story of Emma Woodhouse, the younger daughter of a wealthy landowner in Regency England. As a dominant figure in the provincial world of fictional Highbury, Emma believed that she was a skilled matchmaker and repeatedly attempted to meddle in the প্রণয় lives of others. After successfully arranging the...
