Educated Guesses on Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode Titles: Episodes 6 – 10

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Guessing Episodes 6 - 10 of Game of Thrones Season 6
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
made educated guesses about the titles for Episodes 1-5 of
Season 6. Today, we continue with Episodes 6 through 10. But before we begin, I want to give a shout-out to some of you who came up with some really great titles for Episodes 1-5.
Ghost_Of_Karl_Tanner had a fantastic suggestion for Episode 1: “What is Dead May Never Die” If this hadn’t already been used as an episode title in Season 2, it would be a great title for an episode that featured both the Ironborn and Jon’s potential resurrection.
Albert Kong mentioned “We Do Not Sow” for Episode 4. If you aren’t familiar, those are the House words for the Greyjoy family. It would serve as a good introduction to Euron Greyjoy, a big player next year.
Patch really nailed all five episodes. I could see each one being legit:
1) Night Gathers (Jon is dead, Stannis dead, things generally hopeless up north…)
2) A Golden Shroud (Myrcella’s funeral and Balon’s death?)
3) Mother of Mountains (I like this proposed title)
5) Blood of My Blood (Dany wins over the Dothraki and the title could be a reference to Sansa and Jon reuniting?)
These are just a few of my favorites, and really, a lot of you folks stepped up and delivered some great titles…but alas, we don’t have enough room to fit them all, and we need to get to the back half of the season.
Now, we have reports that say director Jack Bender was on hand to film scenes at the Tower of Joy, where something mysterious and important happened years before the show began. We know that Bender will be directing Episodes 5 and 6. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Episode 6 will be the one where Bran uses his new greenseeing abilities to peer into past and visit the Tower of Joy in Dorne.
Tower of joy, by Henning Ludvigsen for Fantasy Flight Games
Like my momma always said, “Keep it simple, stupid,” and that’s what I’m doing here. Many suggested that this episode could be called “Blue Winter Rose” or that the title will make another reference to the imagery from Ned Stark’s fever dream about the Tower of Joy from
, but I think the obvious course is the best course in this situation.
Next, we have Episode 7. This is historically the episode that sets up the final three exciting hours of the season. Last season, “The Gift” saw Jon Snow leave the Wall and head for Hardhome, Melisandre suggested that Stannis burn his daughter alive, Tyrion finally met Dany, and Cersei got thrown in jail. I would expect something similar from Episode 7 of Season 6.
Here’s my reasoning: We know Jaime and Bronn are headed to the Riverlands to lift the siege at Riverrun, and that this happens after Episode 6. House Tully still holds Riverrun, and their words are “Family, Duty, Honor.” Now, as I mentioned in yesterday’s piece, sometimes
likes to infuse multiple meanings into the titles. With this one, Honor could be a reference to the name of one of Jaime Lannister’s horses (the other being Glory).
Also, it’s possible that Rickon Stark, who will be returning this year, will play a bigger part in this section of the season, as he (along with Jon and Sansa) contemplate the duties they owe to their family and how they can reclaim the honor of their House, which has been slowly chipped away over the past five seasons.
Episode 8 is where things start to get exciting. I fully expect that, by this part of the season, events in King’s Landing will have reached a boiling point. By Episode 8, Cersei should be ready to face her trail by the Faith of the Seven. If things progress as they do in the books, she’ll choose a trial by combat, and will appoint Ser Robert “Zombie Mountain” Strong as her champion. We also know that, in Episode 6, Jamie rides on the Great Sept of Baelor with the Tyrell army at his back in order to free Margaery, so the new queen should also be ready to have her much tamer trial as well.
But back to Cersei—if she appoints Robert Strong as her champion, who will the Faith choose to fight him? Now, I have to resist my base desire to fanboy-out and call Episode 8 “Cleganebowl” because, well…we all know that’s just a pipe-dream. So, it is with a heavy heart that I name Episode 8:
I also expect Episode 8 to be heavy on Daenerys. The Mother of Dragons has to start heading to Westeros at some point, and by Episode 8, I’m hoping she will be wrapping up her story in Essos and preparing to sail (or fly) to the Seven Kingdoms.
Next, we head into the penultimate episode of Season 6. The big event this year seems to be what’s come to be known as the Bastard Bowl (or the Battle of the Bastards), in which Ramsay
Bolton will face off against Jon Snow. There’s really nothing complicated to say here. Jon and his wildlings (Wun Wun in tow) and those Northern Lords still loyal to House Stark will face Ramsay and the Bolton army.
Season 6 Episode 9: “The Trueborn Lord of Winterfell”
Ahhhh, getting tricky with the titles, are we? Well, since we were deprived of the Pink Letter in Season 5, and since we know the great bastards of the North are going to battle, I thought I’d toss in a reference to that infamous piece of correspondence from Ramsay to Jon in
Your false king is dead, bastard. He and all his host were smashed in seven days of battle. I have his magic sword. Tell his red whore.
Your false king’s friends are dead. Their heads upon the walls of Winterfell. Come see them, bastard. Your false king lied, and so did you. You told the world you burned the King-Beyond-the-Wall. Instead you sent him to Winterfell to steal my bride from me.
I will have my bride back. If you want Mance Rayder back, come and get him. I have him in a cage for all the north to see, proof of your lies. The cage is cold, but I have made him a warm cloak from the skins of the six whores who came with him to Winterfell.
I want my bride back. I want the false king’s queen. I want his daughter and his red witch. I want this wildling princess. I want his little prince, the wildling babe. And I want my Reek. Send them to me, bastard, and I will not trouble you or your black crows. Keep them from me, and I will cut out your bastard’s heart and eat it.
Obviously this title could apply to either Ramsay or Jon…or both, depending on who wins.
And now we arrive at the finale, Episode 10. Here’s where it all shakes out; this is where it all comes together to set up the final two seasons of the series. We need some closure in the Season 6 finale, and we need characters to make some major moves, location-wise, so they’re in place for the final game of thrones.
Here’s what I think will happen to the major characters in Episode 10:
In Braavos, Arya will have once again gone against the Faceless Men and assassinated someone else from list. To save her own bacon, she’ll catch a ship back to Westeros.
In King’s Landing, snow will be falling and many key players will have been removed from the board (see: dead). Cersei will once again be on the edge of losing her mind, and we might see her tap into a cache of wildfire hidden underneath the city.
In the Riverlands, Jaime will have successfully lifted the siege at Riverrun, but after a meeting with Brienne in his tent, he will have mysteriously disappeared.
In Essos, Dany has returned to Meereen and has set her dragons loose upon the city. The Mother of Dragons is back with a vengeance and she is taking what is hers by fire and by blood. The last we see of Dany, she and her supporting cast (Tyrion, Daario, Grey Worm, Missandei, and maybe Jorah if he survives the greyscale) are sailing back to Westeros in ships provided by Euron Greyjoy, her dragons flying overhead.
In the North (and this is where it all ends) the Wall will fall. The winter winds will blow across the North, and with them, the army of the Night’s King will come. Jon and his remaining forces will be holed up in Winterfell, and they will see the army of the undead marching on them.
Yes, I went with the much lamented and as yet unpublished sixth book in the
, as my title. However, if you think about it, it makes sense. If the Wall were to fall and the Night’s King were to begin his invasion, then winter winds would be how he would would announce his arrival. Don’t forget the lesson learned at Hardhome: When you see the white winds blow, it’s time to run.
Last week, English actor Tamar Hassan (Batman Begins, EastEnders) revealed that he was going to...
It’s that time of year again, folks. We’re a little over three months away from the...
Have you already read all the books and/or don\'t care about spoilers? You can reveal all the spoilers in the comments with the click of a link below.
Episode 10 : I think it will be cover both Danny’s journey to Westeros and the arrival of Winter (Walkers) , maybe they land simultaneously
I can envision : Danny on a Ship with Drogon flying ahead looking at a Burning King’s Landing with Snow starting to fall on the closing shot
Probably not finale, but 9th episode of last season will be named: Song of Ice and Fire.
Isn’t the title of episode 3, season 2 “what is dead may never die?”
Can’t use “What is Dead May Never Die” because they already used it for episode 3 of season 2. Unless they put a 2 on the end, but I doubt that.
I suppose a “Winds of Winter” name would fit since episode 9 of season 5 was “The Dance Of Dragons”, but I’d like to think that they can be a bit more creative than that.
The Stark moves begin here right? So 9 or 10 could be ‘A Time for Wolves’
I think the name of an episode like “A Time For Wolves” would imply that
Jon will defeat Ramsay even before the episode airs.
Everyone including myself seems to be in agreement with family, duty, honor being the title of an episode. It fits for several stories going on and obviously for the Rivrerrun arc. Winter is coming will probably be one too, or some variation. Maybe just winter.
8 Here we Stand. (This will be Jorahs death episode) homage to House Mormont.
6 (or 5): “Promise Me” – a bit more subtle than Tower of Joy but still meaningful.
9: “Kings of Winter” – I can see a bit of a dialogue / backstory referencing them pre-battle, and it thematically goes along with the battle for the North. Would be similar to how “Dance of Dragons” was used last season.
Not sure about 10, but my guess wouldn’t be Winds of Winter. Have they used book titles as episode titles in the past?
I guessed Family Duty Honor and Tower of Joy so I definitely agree with those. For 9, I like that as well. I think in the show, Ramsay will assume Sansa and Theon went straight to the wall and will send Jon the same letter containing that Stannis dead, minus Mance.
Thanks again for this amazing writing, Razor! I loved it :) and your thoughts about episode 10 gave me the chills :D
I love the thought of Cersei going bonkers in King’s Landing and getting into the cache of wildfire. Think of it: Robert Strong loses Cleganebowl in Episode 8, and she is sentenced to die (similar to that last shot of Tyrion at the end of “The Mountain and The Viper). Episode 9 is dominated by the Battle of the Bastards. In Episode 10, Cersei decides — with the Faith Militant on their way to collect her for the execution — that she would rather see King’s Landing burn than to go out like this, gets into the wildfire and burns the city (or at least the Red Keep) to the ground. It would echo what the Mad King was going to do before Jaime put a sword through his back and stopped him (and if Jaime is in the Riverlands, he isn’t there to stop Cersei from doing it). It would also be a call back to Dany’s vision in the House of the Undying from Season 2, one of a ruined, burned out Iron Throne room with snow falling through holes in the roof.
This would give us King’s Landing burning in the south (fire) and perhaps later in the episode we would see the fall of the Wall with the attack of the Night’s King (giving us our ice component). It leaves the board relatively clear for Dany to arrive as conquering hero in Season 7, ready to join the real battle, the one against the Night’s King’s forces.

I don’t think Jon will see the army coming. I think Ed will warn Jon, if the theory is true that Jon ask Ed to inform him what is happing at the Wall.
After the Wall fall, a few northern houses will get killed. But Winterfell standing up untill season 7 ep 2 or 3. My guess.
Yeah I am of the opinion that Winterfell literally means the spot where Winter fell. As in, the Starks of old defeated the White Walkers and pushed them back beyond the Wall where Bran The Builder Stark erected the Wall and then built Winterfell on the spot that the Others were defeated. Just my two cents… =)
“Tower of Joy” will be a great episode name, but it virtually gives everything away before it airs. I think “Flower on the Wall” will be more subtle, as well as hinting Sasha meets Jon at thewall.
We know Ep9 will feature the biggest battle on GoT so far, and it will be in the North, I’d like to see it called “The North Remembers”
I will not say it’s a slam dunk, but I will be very surprised, if not disappointed, Ep10 will not be called “The Winds of Winter”, like everyone else.
Excellent job Razor!! Loved all your theorizing and agree with just about everything! Here is wishing what you speculate will happen in episode 10 wil come true!! It is going to be amazing! A huge pat on the back for your great effort!
The collapse of the Wall and the burndown of King’s Landing by Cersei will no doubt prompt Dany back to Westeros. It may very well be the last scene of season 6, with Dany proclaiming : I will kill them all! (with her three dragons roaring in the back!)
I like “Promise Me” for Episode 6. It’s still simple, but also plays on why the Tower of Joy is such in important seen. Then again, the more I think about it, it doesn’t really sound like a GoT episode title… I still like it, though.
It may not sound like a GoT episode title, but it’s closer to what I’d expect for a title to be, since it can apply to many others. Lyanna asking Ned to protect Jon. Cersei asking Jaime/Robert Strong/etc to win for her. The Faceless asking something from Arya. Sansa asking someone from Jon/Reek, etc.
Maybe changed to “Promises”, but still. Episode titles have to be able to apply to the overall theme of the episode, not just a specific portion of it
E6: The crypts (I believe this title could have multiple meanings, the obvious being bran discovering what is in the crypts of winterfell via his vision of the tower of joy. Other possible meanings, we may see a certain gravedigger. Or it could be referencing some dead characters [jon, catelyn etc])
E8: The Storm God (Euron will do something very impactful, it starts to storm in the riverlands and possibly a reference to the encroaching winter winds)
E9: The Burned Men (Ramsay burns 2 important characters, Euron sets flame to old town or horn hill, drogon sets flame to vaes dothrak)
I’d find it quite humorous if Ramsay kills Jon during the Battle of the Bastards 😂😂
Also, I love everything about your episode 10, I support it 110%
If S06E06 has the incidents at Tower Of Joy, something over-arc-ing may be how D&D go. I’m going to offer ‘
‘ as its title. Should other people make an important singular promise to certain main characters, this would form a good theme.
High Sparrow, to Maegary & Cersei – ‘I promise, you will be treated fairly, in the Eyes Of The Seven.’
S06E09 holds to the tradition of a major event. We know there’s a huge battle at Winterfell, from all the days taken to film the action there. Maybe it begins during the closing part of the previous episode, with opposing forces seeing the other’s size and strength. With other events, I think S06E08 could be titled ‘
‘ (or something along those lines). I’d love to be dramatic, and have ‘Bastard? Trueborn!’, which would be Ramsay responding to someone. Later, it’d be an echo, returning to him, probably someone turning to Jon to say the words.
There’s too much haste to rush to ‘The Winds Of Winter’ as an episode title. So far, battle-wise, it’s been win after win for Night’s King and The Others, The White Walkers. It would raise spirits, for once, to see them take a step back. Wouldn’t it be better having the whole of a season with an overall title? Won’t S07 cover the coming of The Next Long Night, and the War For The Dawn? We’ve seen The Wall stand up to Mance’s army. It must be shown to stand up to a large raid by Night’s King’s forces. Temporary elation is what I’m hinting at there, with the ranks of what’s left at The Wall, under Commander Alliser Thorne.
In S06E10, what would we have? Cersei will loose Bob Strong on Faith Militant, and anyone else in his (really her) way. No Cleganebowl is what I’m saying. It’s a repeat wild rampage through King’s Landing though. Cersei will scream words, an echo from the past. “BURN! BURN THEM ALL!”
Time to have other words echo from the past too. As title for S06E10, I’m suggesting ‘
‘. (Not the other way about!) There will be blood of those in Bob’s way. King’s Landing will begin to burn. Pycelle tries to get out, rather than be trapped. He is found in a pool of blood. Kevan may suspect Qyburn, and tries to stop Qyburn setting more fires going. That’ll be when Kevan gets his, at the hands of….. Varys (back in KL). Perhaps with a jesty reveal about who really is Cersei’s father, playing on the episode title?
If anything, Euron is highly likely to storm and sack Meereen….. Again, it keeps with a theme of ‘
‘. Could be this is where Rhaegal & Vyserion gain their freedom? Cue Drogon, and we know he/she buys blood with fire.
Closing scene for S06E10 – Back to The Wall. Jubilant Thorne sits pretty in Castle Black. We weren’t shown the Nightfort for nothing earlier in the series. If anywhere, this is where Night’s King’s main men, his Kings Guard, gain access through The Wall.
There is a link between Night’s King’s Men and Night’s Watch, through Craster. Mormont revealed he knew about Craster’s doings. Those men (used loosely) will have blood of Night’s Watch. There was a clue about control of fire too, during Hardhome episode.
So what if it sounds tin-foil, give it time to sink in.
Maybe we get to see a version of Coldhands, in the shape of a face we know is Night’s Watch. Benjen? Not sure. How about young Royce from prologue to S01E01?
Sorry if this question has already been answered, but when DO they announce the episode names?
Typically the name of the first three or four episodes will be announced couple of weeks before the season debuts.
What’s the over under on people the blackfish kills with a firey now and arrow 3-1/2 – I’m goin with the over
@IMDB, Lady Stark, played by Essie Davis, 6.1!!!!!
Lyanna Stark? Kinda early in season for the TOJ scene. I wouldn’t trust anything from IMDB. They had her appearing on 4 -10 and had Yara Greyjoy appearing in a couple episodes.
I think they will change “Winds of Winter” for an episode title to be something more like “Winter Winds”. Just like they slightly changed 5.9 from the book title.
mary on And the as-yet unseen book character fans most want to see in Game of Thrones Season 6 is…
