Do আপনি consider Twilight sexist?

I DEFINITELY think so. And none of them are really independent women; they're ALL submissive to the men in their lives. Well, maybe not so much Rosalie (it's somewhat the other way around), but she does seem to have vanity issues. And she's considered one of the bitches of the story because she's not as dependent on Emmett as the other women in the story are dependent on their men, and because she actually seems to THINK for herself and have her own, separate opinion (i.e. not wanting to accept Bella into their lives).

I'm not even going to talk about Bella, as her relationship with Edward and her utter dependence on him has already been discussed many a time. So I'm moving on to Alice. I can see why some people like her, as she appears to have that quirky, weird persona about her. But if আপনি look deeper (actually it's not that deep at all), she really is quite a shallow character. Girls have every right to be girly and like clothes and looking pretty whatnot...we're girls, after all. We tend to like that crap. But it seems all she cares about are clothes and expensive cars and things. She acts like a spoiled little preppy girl, not a weird, interesting character. And though she's described as 'bubbly,' I see her as annoying, and not really actually having much personality at all.

I feel awful for Esme, because she's rarely in the বই and for the most part no one knows WHAT the hell she's doing. Did আপনি know that she was an architect? Yeah, apparently she is. I read that somewhere. I don't know if it's true অথবা not (since I haven't read the বই since I was a fan), but if it is, I never would have remembered that unless someone had told me. Does Meyer ever talk about her job? Do any of the other girls have jobs? No.

The only female character I really like from Twilight is Leah (ironically my baby sister is named after her :D). She's strong, independent of men, and she actually has flaws and a personality. And she's treated like an unruly bitch, has horrible things happen to her, and then she never gets a happy ending. Whereas EVERYONE in almost the whole goddamn series gets paired up with someone in the end. I think that's another form of sexism in the book, btw. That's not what I mean দ্বারা a happy ending for Leah, though. Just SOMETHING. She deserved SOME happiness after all the shit she'd went through, and having to endure stupid characters.

Anyway, sorry if I offended anyone. These are my opinions on the issue. Peace!♥

My biggest issue is BELLA. She's insecure about herself (this is proven দ্বারা how she's constantly complaining about how clumsy and non-perfect she is), shallow (there wouldn't be people saying that Meyer used "thesaurus rape" if she never droned on and on about how georgeous, perfect, sparkly, hansome, and perfect Edward is), and she feels like there's no reason to exist if Edward isn't right beside her 24/7 (when he leaves her, she attempts suicidal stunts just to "hear his voice again"). She can't think, feel, speak, অথবা even breathe without Edward's consent. It's pathetic and it's poisoning the minds of young girls; it's giving them the wrong idea that this is not only a healthy relationship, but that it's the "perfect" one.

Actually Yes! I do think Twilight is Sexist and Anti-Feminist! Reasons:

We begin with the main character in the story, Bella.

Bella: Is described to be clumsy, and stubborn, she is the new girl in the school and suddenly, you'd see several guys swooning over her like frantical idiots and the so called "hottest guy in school", Edward, realises that Bella's the only one good for him because she smells good (getting perverted are we, Edwart?). Edward likes her because of her smell, disregarding her behavior and such, even watching Bella in her sleep. Bella's also very inconsiderate of her friends, seeing as whenever she gets a boyfriend, she leaves her other বন্ধু at Forks. She loves Edward so much, much to the point of only meeting for a few years then desiring sex.

Alice: Is a girl probably brainwashed into thinking all about shopping and what-not. She can predict the future without taking any Divination Lessons at Hogwarts, and is described to be bubbly and pixie-like, although, she's a shopping addict and usually into the so-called latest trends. She's actually a shallow character, a girly one, but sure I'm a girl, although, a lot of girls are boyish and she seems to be a patron to those girly girls. She's not really the very good girl, she went into an asylum because she can predict the future and it doesn't make her that bubbly.

Rosalie: Is the girl who hated Bella and wanted to kill her and kidnap her baby, and I nearly liked her for that! But really, she's sometimes just into beauty, makeup, etc. But sometimes I do like her for hating Bella so much. She's actually quite an interesting character because not much is revealed about her past and I'm actually itching to learn আরো about her. She's believed to be the most beautiful person in the world, so beautiful that she got raped and murdered.

I never thought it was sexist, I thought that the girls in it were closer to modern girls(at least in my experience no offense to anyone) but you're right if you're gonna write a story write about independent, strong women! :)

No I never thought it was sexist. I thought Bella was some what weak but I didn't think it was sexist.

YES! Bella spends 90% of her time cooking/cleaning for her father, Alice is always shopping, and Esme is a total example of a fifties stay at প্রথমপাতা mom. Not to mention, all the strong female characters (i.e., Leah and Rosalie) are antagonists, and viewed badly. It's awful, and is totally anti-feminist. Not to mention Bella is a total damsel in distress.
