nessienjake No. I disagree with you. Im not one of the girls who is obsessed over Edward Cullen,Bella Swan and the main list of Cullen's. HarryPotter doesn't transmit the same vibe to me it does to you. I find HP a book for bedtime stories full of fantasies.And too much exxageration. Her characters, unlike life’s, are all black-and-white. Her story-lines are predictable, the suspense minimal, the sentimentality cloying every page. Harry Potter is aimed (middle-graders) will even realise the writing isn’t as good as it should be—and could have been with the help of a decent editor. I find twilight in another opinion than you do. here are some comments i found interesting to read: Twilight is so much better because it's real, at least it could be real. Harry Potter is just about some teenage kids who desperately need to grow up. Also there is no love in HP, Twilight is like the modern romeo & juliet, because if anyone has read romeo & juliet you would see how similar the mindless obsession is. ................................................................... Yes, we all know that Harry Potter and Twilight are both fiction, but Twilight is clearly better. When I read a book, I like to imagine myself in the plot or relate to the story somewhat. Aside from the vampire theme, Twilight actually takes place in a REAL town with up to date things. ex) cars, school, etc. I'm sorry but I just can't picture myself on a flying train, eating chocolate covered frogs, headed to a non existent magical school. When her mother got kidnapped, I honestly didn't care. But with Harry Potter, I had tears in my eyes when the OWL dies. Sheesh. XDRoseLuvsHP I just want to point out that just because Harry Potter is fantasy doesn't make it bad, just like the fact that just because Twilight is romance doesn't make it bad. It's the way Twilight was written that makes it bad, the characters that make it bad, the storyline itself that makes it bad. But it isn't because it's romance. Jane Austin was a fantastic writer, and she wrote romance. nessienjake: That paragraph up there was partially for you. Twilight goes through more emotions? Honestly? She does nothing to show she loves Renesmee, except attack Jacob for giving her a nickname, which doesn't really show much. If she "loves" Jacob so much, why does she treat him so horribly? Also, Bella's pain seemed to drain quite quickly once she had another guy obsessing over her. So it seems to me that she missed the attention and the prettiness of a boyfriend more than Edward himself. But of course, Edward is hottest, so she wants him the most. When Edward left, I just thought, wow, this girl is waaaaay too dependent on her boyfriend. How pathetic. To be upset for a time is understandable. Bella exaggerated it to a point where I lost any small trace of doubt that the lust and obsession is what she is feeling, not love. Now, you think JK Rowling's writing is bad? Have you even seen SMeyer's work? Did you really read the book? Or just see the movie? Because I honestly do not think you can say Harry Potter has bad writing compared to Twilight if you had actually read the books. You know what I found? I'm not trying to be rude here, but it's true; The Clique books have more depth than Twilight. That's just sad. Harry Potter, on the other hand, goes through all different emotions. Joy when Harry finds out he is a wizard, awkwardness when Harry has feelings for Ginny, pity for even Voldemort who is the Dark Lord and ruthless murderer, pain when Sirius and Dumbledore and Cedric and Mad Eye and Hedwig and Dobby and Snape and Fred and so on die, fear when Harry knows he is walking to his death, anger when Harry is chasing after Bellatrix in Order of the Phoenix, awe of Hogwarts and the wizarding world, determination when Harry is playing Quidditch, need I continue? Twilight drew out little emotion for me. There was virtually no sacrifice, just an easy happily ever after. It is hard to feel for a character as awful, pathetic, unlikable and arrogant as Bella. You think Harry Potter characters are black and white? In what way? Each character is well developed and has depth, very colorful indeed. Look at Snape, the perfect example. Of course, I can name many, such as Lupin, Neville, Harry, Umbridge, Luna, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Lily, James, Wormtail, Bellatrix, Voldemort, Draco, Lucius, Narcissa, Dobby, etc etc etc... Name me just one Twilight character with this much. Just one.

I have read the HP books in a point I found it interesting. But I still found Twilight more...interesting...for me. So don't hate me for expressing my point of view out loud. :)

Catbr I agree. I didn't feel Bella's pain either. I don't like the fact that the main character depends on her boyfriend.

MissKnowItAll Bella and Edward are nothing like Romeo and Juliet. Yes, there is a mindless obsesssion- but that is lust and is present in most couples at some point. The key point in Romeo and Juliet is conflict. Trust me, I've just spent four hours writing about Romeo and Juliet, so I really know what I'm talking about. There is a conflict keeping them apart that is not present in Twilight. Severus and Lily aee love across a divide, a perfect example of the conflict.

tsmith120 To say it is a modern Romeo and Juliet is not that great a thing, especially if you want to call it a great love story at the same time. Romeo and Juliet is about a couple of stupid kids who become infatuated with each other, get married before they've known each other even a week, then each commit suicide due to said infatuation before they get sick of each other. Even Harry Potter, not a romance in it's own right, places far more emphasis on love - TRUE love - than either R&J or twilight.
