Mongoose09, that's eaxactly why I started the poll. I think it's one of the most unfair things done by a teacher and it surpasses everything Snape did as a teacher. Snape took away a few points to Gryffindor unafairly. Dumbledore made Gryffindor win the House Cup. Why would then anyone think Draco was a fool for listening to his dad who disliked Dumbledore?

Dumbledore gave the points fairly to those who did great things for the school and for the safety of people. He slightly preferred Gryffindor over Slytherin but never "made them win the House Cup"...the points were deserved. Dumbledore was the best Headmaster.

^ oh don't get me wrong, the points were definitely deserved.. well, actually.. except Neville. i mean cmon they're TIED with Slytherin because of the added points which is suspicious enough in the first place and then Neville randomly gets 10 points? i'm sure he's not the only student to stand up to his friends. sure his points WERE deserved but in my opinion the only reason Dumbledore gave them to him was to secure Gryffindor's victory over Slytherin.
but that's not what annoys me, what annoys me is that Dumbledore goes through all 4 of the houses scores and then announces Slytherin has won to the whole school, they celebrate their win and are proud (even the decorations change to green!) then he's just like "WELL DONE BUT HAHAAHA NO YOU DON'T ACTUALLY WIN, IN YOUR FACE" and changes the decorations, i just think it's a bit mean.. why tell them they won in the first place? and i'm not even particularly fond of Slytherin and much prefer Gryffindor, so it's not like i'm biased.

If he'd been fair then he should have also taken points off Harry, Ron and Hermione for being out after curfew, for entering an area where students were strictly forbidden to enter, for breaking through the school's security systems, etc. It comes across to me as extremely biased for a teacher (let alone a headmaster who's supposed to be impartial) to instead of taking points off 3 students for leaving their dorms after curfew, giving points to another student in the same house, for trying to stop them from breaking said rule. Specially as those 10 points won Gryffindor the house cup. According to Minerva they should have lost at least 50 points each as "nothing gives you the right to walk around the school at night"

Well, it's Dumbledore we're talking about...he's completely out of his mind in a good way LOL...I'm addressing this to the part where he announces Slytherin's won and then give points to Gryffindor. About taking points off for breaking the rules...does breaking the rules really count when you save people? Not to me. Of course you're totally entitled to your opinion..I'm just telling I never had this feeling he was so partial to Gryffindor, you know? I've never personally felt it.

@ Bangel90: Who did they save? They saved no one. They did more damage than good. They wrongly accused a teacher (Snape), assaulted a student (Neville), negligently put their lives in danger, left their rooms after curfew, went into a restricted area and almost handed Voldemort the Philosopher's stone. If you recall, the only way anyone could have gotten the stone would have been if they didn't want to use it themselves. Without Harry there, there was no way the stone would have appeared. If Quirrel had cast a spell to immobilise Harry instead of grabbing for him, all the precautions taken by the teachers would have been for nothing. They basically got points for being lucky. Just my opinion also :-)

@LadyBrock: I do recall the mirroru rule and I think Quirrell and Voldy would have found a way to get it otherwise all the previous challenges would've been for nothing if Quirrell would have stood there in front of the mirror firsthand.Besides, the trio had no idea about the mirror rule. They wanted to do a good thing, to prevent Voldemort from returning and such bravery and spirit of initiative even when you break the rules should be accounted for. Not to mention they passed ALL the teachers' challenges so did a great prove of how much they're worth magically and logically. I don't know if I'm making any sense. Well, for me they deserved the points.

About accusing Snape..it can happen, they had all the clues upside down but hey, they were just wrong.
