There are so many good pairings out there where they have deep bonds and strong history, people ignoring that and just supporting pairings for fangirl reasons is just a waste.

I honestly don't care since it's just out of fandom, but if we were to be serious about it, then yeah, I would follow what the history says.

its not just with hetalia for me, when people do this in general it really bothers me. It seems pretty ridiculous to me that you would ship people and not think that they would actually make a good couple but they just look cute. theres plenty of shippings that are cute, sure, but for me theres no real meaning behind it and its pretty boring if thats all there is.

I doesn't bother me,because I do it.I support all of my pairings because I think they would be cute.If they have historical background,well woppie.Sue me,but I like the pairings for pairings,not historical accuracy.

GaHoolianGirl: When people in real life get together, they don't do it because it's cute. They have reasons for wanting to be together. I say if you're pairing two characters together you should have more reasons then just saying they're cute. Because then you're not supporting the pairing, you're supporting the fanart for it.

^But it's an anime isn't it? So it doesn't really matter. In real life of course it would matter, I only ship parings if I can see them together romantically though.

pumpkinqueen: They're not real live ppl so why should it matter? Some of them are based on real ppl (like Russia) but a lot of them aren't. Just enjoy the pairings and if you really enjoy the couple than that IS a feeling. all fangirls have feelings for the couple that they love :)

Because a LOT of couples actually HAVE good reasons to support them. It just sounds pointless to me, supporting something just so you can look at it. No real meaning in it at all.

If most people seriously just like pairings for how they look. Then they are a bunch of sickos. Who give a bad name for the fandom, and actual shippers everywhere. People need to stop drooling and get their heads out of their butt, and actually use their brain. It's not that hard to actually find canon and logical reasons to support pairings. Actually you don't even support pairings if you just go for the looks. You just love the porn and eye candy it gives you. Like, if there is someone out there who seriously supports pairings like CubAme, they need their head fixed and seriously need to read a book.

*facepalm* How can someone's history offend them? I find it a HECK of a lot more offensive when you DON'T use history, just using your headcanons and your rate of 'hottness' THAT insults the countries a lot more then using their actual history.

Who cares what other people's OTP are. You can have your OTP and I can have mine. All this arguing wont change the fact that people can ship any pairing they want, even if it makes no sense.

Who gives a f**k? I personally think eye-candy is just a dumbass phrase that everyone does. I mean, come one. What yaoi fangirl has NEVER looked at a pairing (from any anime) for "eye-candy"? Why should I get worked up over something that stupid? Sure I would like it if the characters have some history connection but it's nothing to whine about.

I don't care, I sometimes do it too, for the pleasure of the eye. I don't see anything wrong with it. I ship Frain just for the eye candy, just because they're hot together.

there are some really irksome pairings in hetalia that make no sense at all. England has too many pairings (it's annoying) and Japan, Belarus, Seychelles have too many pairings with countries that have no connection (seriously why is Seychelles paired up with everybody, i don't hate her, but i never even heard of Seychelles before Hetalia)... oh i forgot PruCan can somebody tell me who invented this pairing... how...why...
