well i hate her as she is paired with every single Male character in the series... which recks *cough* yaoi *cough
2) she's such a mary-sue( which probably explains why she is paired with all the male characters)

I hate that some people are so closed minded. Seychelles is a wonderful character. People declared her a Mary-Sue for being weak and hanging around with England and France. Besides, who cares if she ruins yaoi? If she didn't get involved with any male characters, would anyone really hate her? She has faults, she's weaker and that classifies as her lifeline trait. She's a well-rounded, lovable character that definitely deserves more popularity.

Eh. I don't really care for Seychelles, I mean... she's okay-ish.
I don't really like her (but I don't hate her, either), and not because I think she's a Mary Sue. Honestly, she isn't. She just kind of rubs me the wrong way. And hating a female character because she "recks the yaoi" is... a bit immature, isn't it? And Seychelles actually isn't paired with every male character - if you want a character that actually is paired with everyone (and I mean EVERYONE XD), it's Japan.
I don't think Seychelles is a great or wonderful or perfect character, I still dislike her, but that is just my opinion.

I'm pretty indifferent to Seychelles.But I don't really feel saying she wrecks Yaoi is fair. In a show with many male and few female characters, people who aren't fans of yaoi would naturally think to pair up all the boys with the girl characters, which can sometimes cause conflict between fangirls and shippers.(SpainxBelgium and LietxBelarus are examples for me.I ship Spamano and LietPol, so yeah~) It's a difficult subject..
As for people thinking she's a Mary Sue, I think it's just because of her nature or something. I don't have enough intelligence to put up a convincing arguement :/ But I feel like she's just an..iffy character that people don't really consider their favourite (I consider her the anti-Hungary for some reason XD)

geez this is so different to what i originally thought. Most people i have seen seem to hate her. isn't 'dislike' essentially the same as 'hate'..
But then again when i hate something i usually hate it very much. with anime characters, books ect.

I don't really understand why people keep calling Seychelles a Mary-Sue.
According to the original Gakuen Hetalia script; she is naive, easily angered and prone to make mistakes. Students also laugh at her flag and introduction. Mary-Sue? I don't think so.
As for ruining yaoi, what can you expect? Lack of girls in Hetalia and those fans who don't really ship yaoi couples. Besides, pairing her with every guy in Hetalia is the doing of the fandom, not by Himaruya himself. Just go ship your couples and ignore the ones you hate.

I dislike her, but I fail to see how she's a mary-sue. She's a fine character, I just don't like her personality.

To not go off-topic, in EVERY seychelles video in youtube some haters spam on the videos, they are so beutifully made and just because of the content they spam shit, and that makes both the likers of the video and the video maker sad.

There's hardly any girls in Hetalia, no duh she's going to be paired with a lot of guys. Hating her over a shipping is kinda stupid. She's okay to me,though she's technically not a Mary sue but she does have some Mary Sue traits to where people can kinda claim her as a Sue. You have to remember we live in a VERY picky and critical society in the media section so some things you may disagree you can't ignore anymore.Some of these traits can also be found in one of her latest appearance in an comic. For instance,the author gave her too much pity and too many positive traits such as being an honor student within Africa when South Africa has a much better education system making it inaccurate,claims that people are jealous of her,can do animal talks, has too much pity on her when other countries (Such as Madagascar,which is VERY neglected) actually need help, and the author makes it sound like her beauty is the only reason she still around and is very beautiful when the other female countries rarely get those kinds of complements (Which I remind you are few) ,which is quite disappointing.Then there's the pairing with her is only from the game,but in today's standards being paired with too many characters is a HUGE Mary sue trait unfortunately, so if you're going to make a character one day take this as a future reference. Unfortunately the author probably didn't know what a Mary Sue was otherwise he would've have never given Seychelles so many positive traits,but I'm aware he was probably wanted her to become popular very badly and went desperate.
