he mentions that house made progressions in getting a new team, going to mayfield, so why not having a relationship? i have yet to see a really good, analytical, backed up argument as to why its jumped the shark besides this "its taking over the show" crap
I DO NOT think the show 'jumped the shark' whatever that even means but I agree that some things could have been handled better concerning Huddy. I don't think it's 'taken over' the episodes at all, it's just an actual part of the show now, of course I can see why 'non-Huddy' fans would be annoyed, I haven't loved the medical cases in general so far (well except like 2). I LOVE this show but I can't say that season 7 is my favorite so far. I liked how they were handling Huddy at first this season, the last few eps with the whole 'lying' thing I have a few problems with. BUT overall I think it's fine.
You don't have to agree with this guy and he doesn't have to agree with you and think this is the best thing ever. To each his own.
I have high hopes for the rest of the season and I don't think Huddy will break up, so haters better suck it up! lol
That charge claims the show has reached it's peak or climax and that it is now in a state of decline. It's over. I don't agree bc IMHO (H)ouse on the whole continues to be good (sometimes great) & TPTB have tried to creatively alter their format a little each season. Some story arcs are more loved than others, but it is consistently a high quality production as to writing & acting.
Nor would I agree that Huddy is an "unlikely pairing," which is the claim of most "Jump the Shark" criticism. House & Cuddy in a relationship WAS/IS very likely due to the obvious fact the show has waltzed around their feelings for one another all along.
It would have been more of a shock & disappointment that this show never ever explore the intimacy behind the sexual tension they built. I have concluded that even IF TPTB let Huddy play out to a conclusion I'm not happy with..at least we have had a go of it..a chance.
Once again, worded beautifully BH. I think that is one of those things that just had to happen. I agree with @anon that a lot of things could have been handled better but hey i think this show is groundbreaking and sometimes it involves taking risks, whether good or bad.
Myself and other fans have had issues with other relationships in the past (such as Foreteen for example) but it never got the negativity that Huddy has gotten. People just need to breathe and give it a chance! lol
This relationship is being handled EXACTLY like a normal relationship. They love each other to distraction, but it does not mean that neither one will ever be hurt nor angry nor unreasonable. Those are all emotions that are experienced by lovers. Apart from the love, passion and intimacy.
IMO the writers are handeling it perfectly.
Oh and BTW the HUDDY haters, I am willing to bet good money are also HULI haters. I suspect the negativity toward House and Cuddy is as a result of the HULI hate. Those "fans" are not against House having a relationship, they just don't want it to be Cuddy.
I don't recall there being such hate around the House/Stacy relationship, or House/Lydia.
The truth about HULI is so glaringly obvious that the HULI haters have transfered their venom onto HUDDY. They don't even have proper reasoning for their negativity. All they keep doing is saying "Moonlighting." What a load of bollocks!!!
This story is about Gregory House and what he wants, thinks and feels. The medical mysteries are a vehicle the writers use to drive the story along, to hang his dramas on.
@LaurieLover, I sort of avoid reading comments on these things, glad to hear there was some push back. I only read the short article & was turned off when the person said they stopped watching (H)ouse already in S4. Why bother to come back now just to insist or tell the steady viewers that the show is ruined. It's just an opinion, not fact..so it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the oft used two simplistic idioms used by the shows dissenters, it's either Jump the Shark or declaring the show has turned into a soap opera. Zzzzzz. Eyes glaze over. The least they could do is offer up a new metaphor, humor perhaps..or balance the good with the bad.
FYI: I guess the X-Files actually called S7-epi 19 "Jump the Shark," as tongue-in-cheek, because they knew in advance that fans would be upset that the Lone Gunmen were killed off. So maybe instead of calling (H)ouse S7 opener "Now What," they should have used this longer title, "House Jumps the Shark..by That We Mean Cuddy!"
I cannot stomach the negativity and the badly argumented criticism and i try hard to protect myself from it, because it makes me impossibly angry - it's like somebody dares criticize my child! That's how much i adore "House" and Huddy and how proud and over-protective i am of them!
Just one thing: "House" has been around for a while now and other than those procedural shows that are frozen in their formulas year after year (like CSI etc), no show can hold top ratings for 7 years in a row. I think they are still doing OK and i applaud the creative decisions they made in the past two seasons, with one major exception: LUCAS.
The Luddy arc is what got many people pissed at Cuddy and Huddy, it was cheap and badly done and out of character and a really bad choice as an actor and character and story arc.
My personal belief had always been that Huddy should have started in season 6. A vast majority of the fandom was so hurt and amased by BSN, that the expectance and enthusiasm for his healing and for Huddy were really good when season 6 started. If i was a writer, i would have got Cuddy involved in his recovery at Mayfield (Lisa, not Lydia) and then i would have got them together in early season 6, and House's recovery journey would have been made with her help - it would have had many bumps and difficulties, but i think it could have been beautiful.
If anything is to blame for the drop in ratings, it's season 6, NOT Huddy.
but i agree i think there are multiple reasons the ratings went down and trying to pin it on huddy is ridiculous. someone said this was a show about house and they were right! if this is how house has progressed....so be it.
However love Huddy :)
