I actually thought about this, but then I realized that the musical is great the way it is. :-)

I don't even know. I'd make it longer and make the company include more minor characters that are important in the book. (Not so that it changed the story, but just so that people who'd read the book would notice them.) I'd make some of Valjean's lines more humble, so that he was more like the original character, and maybe add a little more about young Cosette.

I would make it so that Javert would live, but that would probably be a wierd ending, plus he died in the book, so.... yeah

I wouldn't change a thing! While I would love for Javert to live... with out him dying, there's none of his amazing last song. ;D I also don't think that it would be the same if Gavroche lived, and I don't think it would make much sense if Marius chose Eponine over Cosette. So... yeah, I love it just the way it is. ;D

The small thing- Valjean wouldn't kill the sniper. I would find something else to make Enjolras let him decide Javert's fate.

Cut On My Own and replace it with L'Un Vers L'Autre (sp?), cut A Little Fall of Rain (but a couple verses of C'est Ne Rien would be okay) bring back I Saw Him Once, change Bring Him Home so that Valjean is more like the book character, change the comedic relief character to Gavroche and make the Thenardiers less clowny, and give the students more lines.

I would make Eponine live and have Marius choose her. Cosette gets on my nerves. Eponine was there first and knew him for ages. Then Marius and Cosette just see each other and fall in love? That is totally unrealistic.

Yeah, he has known her longer and NEVER thought about her in other way than a friend.

Eponine isn't a main character really! She is pretty much Marius' crazy stalker. She's obnoxious in the book! What was that nonsense? They also didn't seem to have Marius' grandfather in it? He was against Marius marrying Cosette. Cosettes and Marius' relationship took like 6 months to form in the book. They stared at each other for ages.

Well, the obvious. Eponine living and marrying Marius!

I would release it...the entire musical...action and all...on DVD. The stand up concerts are nice, but that's not what we all fell in love with. A movie version of the musical would be a close second.

i would change eponine's and gavroche's deaths

I wouldn't change the show except for 1 thing, Marius, Eponine and the posh Cosette. I really wish that Marius chose Eponine over Cosette for she is just as beautiful both inside and out even though she might not dress to the nines. Marius shouldn't just choose Cosette for beauty and money when there's someone who really loves him for who he is and wishing she had him!!!

More Gavroche and more Les Amis. Oooh, and more Montparnasse.

I would have Eponine live through being shot so that Marius and her would end up together instead of (yuck) Cosette. But Ponine does have to get shot and tell Marius she loves him and saves his life, but she just would get injured in the leg or stomach or something so that she's live with the bullet instead of mortally wounded through her heart And also, can we have Gavroche and the students live. And Cosette and Eponine should speak to each other and become friends again like they once were and Cosette can just be happy on her own. She needs to gain some independence. even in the book, all she'd do is stare at marius and if she had no idea where he was she'd just stare at other men including marius' cousin in the hopes they fill his shoes. she needs to seriously stop depending so much on other people...

1. Marius would choose Eponine 2. Gavroche would live (he's soooo cute!) 3. Valjean wouldn't die 4. Javert wouldn't commit suicide(cuz i luv him) ) : but when i think about it it wouldnt have had such an impact on me if these things hadnt happened ( :

Fantine should live, Valjean should never let the supervisor fiering her...and Eponine should be with Marius.

Valjean lives and for as long as he is living Cosette and Marius realize that they were blinded by love and so then they show how grateful they truly are to him. And maybe Valjean carrying Fantine and Cosette away, forming a happy little family :DDDDD

I'd stop Gavroche singing at the end of Stars. Ruins it.

It really is perfect

Don't cut the second half of "Little People" ("and little people know, when little people fight..."). So many productions do this and it makes Gavroche's death 10x less heart-breaking. You need to get the audience to like Gavroche if you want his death to mean anything.

@Triddy243, they couldn't cut Gavroche's part or the audience would not know that Gavroche knows who Javert is.



....PS, this poll isn't about what you want to change in the story (like keeping characters alive). This is about that you would change about the production as though you were directing it.

Are we talking about the movie musical or the stage show as have only seen the movie?

It really is amazing the movie I'd make changes to but not the stage show.

I think Jehan should have more parts. I mean come on he says "here's to pretty girls who went to our heads" and that's IT!!!

I would change that Fantine dies in the 1st fucking 15 minutes!!!

The only thing I might want is that maybe cosette and eponine will become friends, Valjean meets Eponine and they become friends, and for some reason I might want a song wher Fantine meets Eponine in heaven and they notice some similarities. Maybe Marius could notice Eponine a bit more and like Eponine and Cosette equally.
