Everyone can relate to Eponine because everyone has been where she is (unrequited love, not necessarily extreme poverty in a war-stricken nation ;o) )

Eponine is the one with the dreams of all the things she cant have (Marius, love of her family, respect etc) she's the one on the sidelines that everyone can relate to in some part of their life.

While I don't especially adore Cosette, I believe I am the most like her. I have so many blessings, I can't say that I have nearly as many issues as Eponine.

Everyone can relate to Eponine. Everyone's wanted something they know they won't get or loved someone they knew would never love them back. It's these horror stricken things that happen to poor Eponine that make her so identifiable. I wrote a story in English in which the main character dies (It was necessary for the assignment. I'm not some demon who goes around killing off people for fun in my literary works.), and I named her Eponine, because I'm cool like that... AND I had On My Own stuck in my head.... =D

Even though I'm a guy, I'm always "Friend-Boy" as opposed to Boyfriend. That's how I percieve Eponine. enevn though she's a girl...

I disagree with the 'relating to Eponine' because the unrequited love is actually a small part of her character, and to place that above other aspects of her character is doing her a disservice.

Truthfully, I don't relate to any of them. I suppose if I did relate to one of them, it'd be one of the students-- Combeferre or Prouvaire.

There is more to Eponine than loving someone you can't have, you know. She's a fighter who's been through a lot, and she's brave and knows what she needs to do. She hasn't had an easy life, but she's strong and doesn't let it get to her. That's who she really is. And that's who I really am. Life's thrown a LOT at me, and I just know what to do about it.

The boy I love loves someone else and he thinks of me just as a friend. He even asked me to pass her a note, and I peaked. It said "I Love you more then you could know" That broke my heart. To express my self at the talent show I sung "On My Own". My life has thrown a lot at me, but I have toughed through it.

I feel I'm so much like Eponine because I have a medical condition that's nearly killed me,it was hard to keep friends as we were only 11/12/13. I never made any true friends at my college (high school) because of it. Like Eponine I never thought I'd find a love but I couldn't believe it when unlike Eponine I found a man who knew about my problem so all my dreams came true in just 1 week!!!!

I would be like Madame Thenadier because I can be a really horrible person to be around sometimes. xD

My absolute favorite fictional character and one of my role models. She has a tough exterior, but she's so soft inside and no one can tell. She doesn't really have any true friends, and is willing to do things that hurt her that make someone else she cares for happy. She's had a tough life, but pretends it doesn't bother her. She feels so alone and often wasted like she doesn't matter, but always finds something to fight for and believe in reguardless. Like any other human, she makes stupid mistakes, but the guilt always get to her and she makes up for the things she did. She's human. She feels inexpressible and painful emotions of love that have gotten her in trouble, screwed with her brain, and made her life a little flicker of joy but mostly a destructive and unbelievably painful force that always smacks her, hurts her, and scares her forever. Yet, she still comes back because of how stupidly and deeply she feels love that he never quite understands until she's tired of getting hurt and finally accepts things the way they are and quits daydreaming about her life in how she wishes it were while still being able to stay the same person.

I swear to God Eponine is my past life....
