I think it's kind of a mixed emotion. Michael didn't like Joe because he beat him as a child and sometimes he lied about it. Also one time Michael left his windows open while he was sleeping and Joe came in through it dressed as a robber and he scared Michael to death. He had so many nightmares about it.
