I've seen arguments about a few bands on this topic. IMO it's a good thing these people have worked hard to get where they are and completely deserve their success. Obviously I don't want them to lose what they had but at the end of the day any band wants to be succesful :)

Ok no offense to anyone but how exactly is being popular "following the crowd"? Their popularity is the audience and media's doing, not theirs. And so many people say these "unoriginal" comments as if they should be talking. I mean when one or two people have that attitude, whatever. But when every ten minutes you hear someone make a rude comment, it just gets plain repetitive. I can't even find words to describe how much that kind of attitude irritates me. Popularity is unoriginal? Oh yeah like half a school of kids saying the same rude things is any more better. Who are these people trying to impress?

It depends what demographic the artist appeals to really. I despise those fans who come around after I've been a fan of something for a long time (this is not just in reference to music) and pretend like it's their favorite thing in the world. It's just a fad to them. Bitch please, SYAD and let the sane & legit fans bask in said artist's glory.
