Last Episode of Season 1 - How does Kate get away from Ari ? AND Does Ari follow through with with attempting to shoot down Marine One Helicopter?

I have watched the last episode of Season 1 a bunch of times and I do not see Kate get away, but the start of Season 2 she is right back in the office. Also, I see Ari planning on Shooting down Marine One, but I don’t see him follow through, only the plan.
