Why Lucas was wrong to walk out on Peyton D=

Marriage is Forever - Or just until you say something I don't like.

Okay I'll admit as far as the শিরোনাম goes "wrong" wasn't the first word that came to mind. But I decided to avoid swearing in my first, maybe only soapbox so that's how I will be describing Lucas - as wrong.

I am a Leyton fan, occasionally a Jeyton fan, depending on my anger for Lucas from episode to episode. But this soapbox isn't about how great Leyton were/are. It is about the one scene/event in One বৃক্ষ পাহাড় - when Lucas walked out on Peyton after she ব্যক্ত "someday" to his proposal.

For a start আপনি need to really think deeply about what Lucas was asking of Peyton, and himself, দ্বারা asking her to marry him. Marriage, as I understand it is supposed to be something special and ETERNAL. When আপনি ask someone to marry আপনি - আপনি are saying that আপনি want to be with them for the rest of your life, through EVERYTHING. The good and the BAD. What's আরো আপনি are essentially stating আপনি believe that as a couple the two of আপনি can make it through anything, and that no matter the disagreements অথবা problems the two of আপনি might have, that আপনি can and will, ALWAYS work it out and find a way to stay together.

আপনি see the problem. Lucas told Peyton - দ্বারা asking her to marry him - that he was ready to face anything together and that no matter what problems they might have he was willing to do whatever it took to work them out, because that is what marriage is about. So when Peyton says that she's not ready, that she feels THEY aren't ready for marriage and that she wants them to wait a বছর before they get married Lucas should have at the very least agreed to try.

But he didn't. With no warning at all he just walked out on her and didn't try and speak to her again for two years. If he wasn't ready to face problems they might have in their present relationship - Peyton wanting to wait a বছর - how on earth did he believe that he was ready to commit the rest of his life to Peyton facing all of their future problems together.

If আপনি feel আপনি are far enough into a relationship to propose আপনি should be far enough into the relationship to except "no" as an answer and still stay together. Only her answer wasn't even "no" it was "someday" - she was only 19 and she wanted one বছর - and Lucas left. To me this means which ever way আপনি look at it, Lucas is in the wrong. Because either A) he left because the relationship wasn't strong enough to survive a "no" for example he realised he didn't প্রণয় Peyton as much as he thought he did - which means he shouldn't have proposed in the first place অথবা B) his pride was hurt and he wasn't mature enough to cope with the answer he didn't want - which means he certainly wasn't ready for something as serious as marriage.

He was really cruel and immature to walk out on Peyton like that and he was completely in the wrong. It annoys me that other characters in "One বৃক্ষ Hill" (Haley) defend Lucas and try to make it sound as if Peyton was the one who broke Lucas's হৃদয় when that just isn't true. He broke it himself.

Leyton4ever I'm gonna go with your option B....because I most definately believe that lucas is in love with peyton. he was being immature when he walked out. He expected her to be excited and happy when he asked, and when she said someday he took that as a no. But I definately agree that there was no reason to walk out...and to make it worse, not only does he leave but he didn't even say goodbye, he leaves while she is sleeping, i think that was the worst part for me was that he left the CD that she made him next to her and just left. She did break it his heart but it was his own fault not hers. Haley whom I normally like has been annoying me the last few episodes. Though I don't disagree with Haley defending him, he is her best friend after all, but I think she's being especially cold to peyton. I do definately agree that Lucas shouldn't have walked out and then not contacted her till the book signing. But it goes both ways on that aspect because it doesn't appear that she tried to contact him either. I no way to believe Lucas was right for walking out on her after the whole proposal thing but could have done something afterwards but she didn't, until now.

SG1-090 I know that's why I didn't comment on the situation at the moment i'm really just talking about asking someone to marry you and what that means then walking when they say "no". Thanks for the comment!! I was so nervous about publishing this - it's really scary! I'm glad you think B thats what i think too! =D

Leyton4ever i definately agree, Lucas didn't think through the whole concept of marriage when he asks...i mean it's only after that conversation on the bus with Whitey, that he decides to fly to california...i mean whitey definately has made me cry a time or two, but that doesn't mean you fly to cali and ask your 19 year old girlfriend, who you've only seen like 3 times in the last year to marry you and then totally freak out when she wants to wait a year, she was trying to be responsbile and wait till they were both ready....I still love Lucas though.

Laurra 100% agree with both of you - in s1 when lucas was turning into "nathan the jerk", when he cheated on brooke with peyton - hes doing it again and you would of thought hes learned his lesson by now. and your right about the 19 yrs old thing aswell, if shes not ready shes not ready. he cant go all naley on her!! 19s way to young to be gettin married anyway!! this a very good soapbox especialli if its your first, both mine wernt this good. you get the point across straight away i phsyco babble a lot :D oh well :P oh and i choose B too :D

SG1-090 ^^ aw thnx!! yeh i know - everyone thinks of lucas as this sweet guy because he's always saving everyone - but if you look at all the other things he's done - cheating on brooke with peyton while telling Peyton he "needs" her then sleeping with nikki! Then he walks out of Peyton and then kisses Peyton while with Lindsey then proposes!!!

adamz616 the writers know what the fans want: lucus and peyton. thats what we need to see. lucus needs to just stop acting stupid and give in to the way he feels about peyton.

Lila856 OH yeah & also remember when Peyton came back to tree hill he was acting like "SHE DID SOMETHING TERRIBLE TO ME!!" What a spoiled brat. He was mad cuz he thought she didn`t come to the book signing. Uhmm what did he expect, he walked out on her & he should have understood if she didn`t. Peyton should have been MAD but she actually went to the stupid thing & was so understanding of the fact that "he had moved on". I seriously hate him sometimes this season & I always start watching jeyton videos when I do!

KMichelle I completely agree with you. His pride got hurt when she didn't react exactly the way he wanted. He took it the wrong way and bailed on Peyton no less, who already has the whole 'people always leave' complex. I could not believe he did that to her. And now everyone is treating Peyton like the bad guy and Lucas is acting like some kind of victim. He's being such a jerk this season to both Peyton and his new girl Lindsey. (Seeing how he kissed his ex and then proposed to her with Peyton's ring). At this point I think he's an ass and coward and that they are both better off without him. Hopefully he'll wake up soon and see how much of an idiot he's been.

naley_4ever Lucas should give him and Peyton another chance. She said she wanted to marry him, but just not at that moment. They were young and Peyton was confused.

sr5950 I definitely pick B too, and its seems that Lucas hasn't really matured in the 2 years since then, as I don't think he asked Lindsey to marry him for the right reason. Peyton had just told him she still loved him, and he rushes home to lindsey - I admit his speech and proposal to lindsey did seem sincere - but did he ask her to stop her from leaving rather than because he was actually ready to marry her? And then Peyton turns up and hears he proposed to Lindsey, and he looks away from her, somehow it made me feel that perhaps he was trying to punish Peyton for saying no when he proposed 2 years ago. She admits she still loves him, and it seems he almost deliberately responds by hurting her by proposing to Lindsey...like he wants her to go through the pain he did - definitely not a mature way to behave.

Edward901 i agree. lucas should have waited. i think that he was just ready to eternally tie himself to someone so that he wouldn't have to deal with GF/BF crap, since he practically threw himself at Lindsey.
