“Are আপনি okay!?”
And…yeah. I actually did faint.
To make matters worse, if that was possible, her mom arrived প্রথমপাতা the moment I crashed to the floor from the chair.
Now, the two of them were standing over me while I woke up on their couch. Great. “I’m fine!” I quickly assured. “I’m perfectly fine!”
“That’s good,” her mother said. “I was afraid for a moment there. What is your name?”
“Cari. Where are your parents? Where do আপনি live?”
I hesitated. When আপনি tell kids about how আপনি were warped to another world, the most they’ll do is scoff at you. Probably. But when আপনি tell adults, they’ll প্রতিবেদন আপনি to an insane asylum and have আপনি caged up there the rest of your life.
“Cari’s parents went off to Johto on a business trip!” the girl said.
“Vicky…is this your friend?”
Vicky quickly nodded. “Yep. Yes she is. She…uh…just transferred to our school today!”
Vicky glared at me, and I nodded along with her. “That’s right! I just passed out back there because…because…” Think, Cari! “Because Vicky just showed me the curriculum for the school, and they’re so much ahead that I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to catch up!”
Wow. I was really stupid. Even Vicky winced at my excuse.
But her mother was even আরো foolish than me, because she accepted it. “Oh, I see! But…if your parents are away, who’s taking care of you?”
DEAR GOD THIS WOMAN WAS ASKING TOO MANY প্রশ্ন AT A TIME!!!!!! “Her parents originally were planning on having her stay with her grandfather in the পরবর্তি town,” Vicky said. She must have had experience in lying. “But then they found out at the last মিনিট that he moved to the other side of the continent. So they asked her if she could stay here for a while until they came back.”
At that moment, I began to admire her.
“Thanks for covering for me,” I told her when we were in her room. Her mother agreed to have me stay there. Very happily, too.
Vicky glared at me. “What’s the matter with you!? Did আপনি know that if my mom found out that I was lying, she would have my grounded for the rest of my life!? Why couldn’t আপনি think of a good excuse!? And that curriculum thing, too!”
I blinked at her. “Sorry?”
She groaned and pulled a বালিশ and blanket from her closet. “It’s fine. Anyways. You’re going to tell me আরো about your situation when we go to sleep toni-”
“More about what situation?”
Vicky jumped. We both turned toward the door, where some guy was standing in the doorway. He looked kinda like Vicky…just with shorter hair.
“MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATT!!!!!!!!!! GO AWAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!”
He just blinked and rolled his eyes. “I thought আপনি would have learned that your temper tantrums don’t have effect on me.”
“Who’s that?” I asked.
“NO ONE!” Vicky shouted, the same moment that Matt said, “Her twin brother.”
She shot lasers at him through her eyes and pointed at him. “You do not have the permission of me to be my brother!”
Oh…twins…that explained why they looked so alike. Except their personalities were quite different. While Vicky was complaining about how Matt “don’t deserve to call yourself my sibling”, he just stood there, looking bored.
“So, who’s that?” Matt ব্যক্ত when Vicky stopped to catch her breath.
“This is my friend, Cari,” she answered.
He glanced at me. “Where’s your Pokémon?”
“Huh?” I answered. “Er…I don’t have one?”
He wrinkled his nose. “I see.” Then he nodded. “I can understand that…no পোকেমন could possibly want আপনি as their trainer.”
EH!?!?!? WAS HE LOOKING DOWN ON ME!?!?!? “I would be a WAY better trainer than you!” I snapped.
“Really?” He laughed. “I would like to see that.”
Ugh…he was really reminding me of Gary from the anime. I was about to say this when I remembered that they didn’t know their world was nothing but ফ্যান্টাসি on…on Earth. I would never be able to understand what was happening. Which reminded me.
I whipped out my phone, which at that moment seemed like a god. If I could tell my parents what was going on, they would definitely believe me and GET ME OUT OF HERE. Only…there was one issue. When I dialed their number…an error message came up.
ERROR MESSAGE 4401. UNABLE TO CONNECT DUE TO DIFFERENCE IN WORLD.
Vicky read it over my shoulder and winced. “Haha…hahahaha…ah…You’re doomed, Cari.”
“Why? What does it say?” Matt asked.
“NOTHING,” Vicky ব্যক্ত as I dropped to the ground.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!” I screamed. My throat was going to get hoarse.
