Because I consider humans and জন্তু জানোয়ার equal.
It is not like one অথবা two mice will cure cancer, it takes hundreds of জন্তু জানোয়ার to make any progress. Even then, it must be retested many times.

Because they are not protected দ্বারা the law, experimenters don’t even have to provide mice and rats with pain relief.
