Not Your Typical Country Girl Chapter Thirty Three
Clay's POV
The chores this morning were not too fun. I was exhausted and the দিন was just now starting. Everyone was soaked to the bone and it was chilly for a summer morning. Maybe winter won't be so bad. But, আপনি can never tell with this Alabama weather. One দিন it can be hot as blazes and the পরবর্তি will feel like the middle of fall.
I saw Harmony in the শস্যাগার and she was working happily দ্বারা herself. I guess she was enjoying being able to work again.
"Clay, you're soaked," Harmony ব্যক্ত as she spotted me outside.
All the sudden I seen a big bolt of lightenin' and I jumped inside the শস্যাগার as Harmony laughed. I laughed at her as she jumped due to the thunder.
"If we hurry up with everything, maybe we can go muddin'," I said.
"That's all I have been thinking about," Finn ব্যক্ত as everyone came into the শস্যাগার to get away from the lightenin'.
"What is muddin'," Harmony asked confused.
"Wow," Lance mumbled to hisself.
"We load up the dirt bikes and four wheelers and head on the trails to the mud pit," I said.
"Oh," she ব্যক্ত as she thought about it.
"It's really fun," Tucker said.
"I guess so," she ব্যক্ত doubtful.
"Once we go, আপনি will প্রণয় it," I said.
"We can't go as long as it is lightenin'," Dustin said.
"Well it should pass over soon," Lance said.
"We might as well go inside the house and wait this storm out," Finn stated.
"Yeah it might be a while," Tucker said, "but the good Lord knows we needed it!"
We waited for the rain to let up a little bit and then we all ran for the back deck.
"Okay y'all, wait right there," mom ব্যক্ত as the screen door, "y'all have to come into the mud room one at a time and change."
Harmony went over to the porch দোল and sat down.
"Y'all can go first," Harmony ব্যক্ত as she waved her hand away.
Once everyone had changed into their dry clothes, mom out us all to work. Harmony was helping mom cook lunch as the boys cleaned the house and did laundry. It wasn't fun but it was easy compared to what we normally do.
Mom and Harmony had cooked a great lunch. We all helped cleaned the টেবিল and the dishes. দ্বারা the time we got done, the storm had passed and the sun was trying to peak through the clouds. Hopefully, we could get our chores done and go play in the mud!
দ্বারা the time we got done it was too late to go. Sam was over for ডিনার and staying the weekend. Mom and dad had decided it was okay for Harmony to sleep on the পালঙ্ক in my room.
Since we had an extra girl in the house I figured it would be a good idea to go get my ঝরনা before dinner. Once everyone would be done with ডিনার there would be a line for showers and hot water.
I got in and stood there for a few minutes. This rainy দিন had made me so tired. I hated working in rain, it made me feel terrible.
ডিনার was delicious as always. Mom and Sam had prepared fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls. It was so good. I'm pretty sure I had 3 helpings of everything.
"I'll help clean since আপনি cooked," Harmony ব্যক্ত quietly to Sam.
"It's alright, you've been working hard today," Sam ব্যক্ত in her bubbly self.
"Not really," Harmony shrugged.
Harmony sure was being shy tonight. Normally, Harmony doesn't act shy around all of us but I guess with Sam that's a different story. Maybe she is intimidated দ্বারা Sam.
"Lance, can I borrow a pair of shorts and a t shirt," Harmony asked.
"I don't care," he said.
"Okay cool," she ব্যক্ত as she disappeared.
I made my way to the living room to watch tv with dad. The Atlanta Braves were playing so I had to turn on the game.
"Hey boys, the game is on," dad yelled.
I watch as Dustin came in and say on the other end of the couch.
"Where are your other brothers," dad asked Dustin.
"They went to the গর্ত to play video games," Dustin said.
Mom and Sam got done cleaning the রান্নাঘর and came to watch the game with us.
"Where did Harmony go," she asked as the game went on a commercial.
"I don't know," dad said.
"I think I hear the ঝরনা running," I stated.
The game came back on and the power went out.
"Well dang," I grumbled.
"I'll get a flashlight and take it to Harmony," mom said.
"Well, I'm heading to bed. Goodnight y'all," dad said.
"Night dad," I said.
"Night Mr. Bryce," Sam said.
My eyes were slowly adjusting as the darkness lasted.
"Man, I was doing great that game," Lance ব্যক্ত as he voice got louder.
"I know, me too! I was 8-0," Finn said.
"Finn that's nothing," I ব্যক্ত messing with him, "that's horrible!"
"How? I didn't die at all," he ব্যক্ত trying to defend hisself.
"I'm kidding," I said, "that's pretty good."
"You better be," he said.
"Whatcha gonna do about? It's dark," I ব্যক্ত laughing.
"Whatever," Finn mumbled.
"I'm heading to her; goodnight kids," I said.
"Night," Lance ব্যক্ত laughing.
I made my way to my bedroom in the dark. I can easily get to my bedroom with my eyes closed. I could see a light coming from my room. It had to be mom fixing Harmony some blankets অথবা something on the couch. But it was just Harmony.
"Are আপনি sure this is alright," she asked unsure.
"Yeah, it's no problem," I said, "just don't wake me up with your snoring!"
"I don't snore," she stated, "don't let YOUR snoring wake ME up!"
"Okay, I'll try," I ব্যক্ত laughing.
"Hey where did আপনি get that Navy shirt," Harmony asked, "that শার্ট is comfy!"
"I got it when I signed up," I stated.
"Signed up for what," she asked curiously.
"I joined the Navy; আপনি know it's a branch in the military," I said.
"Cool," Harmony ব্যক্ত as she got ready for bed, "well they make comfy shirts!"
I don't think she really understands what I am meaning. I just don't have the হৃদয় to tell her right now.
"Goodnight," She ব্যক্ত as covered up.
"Night, প্রণয় you," I said.
Harmony looked over at me with wide eyes.
"What's wrong," I asked confused.
"No one has ever ব্যক্ত that to me before," she ব্যক্ত as her cheeks turned red.
"No one at all," I asked.
"No," she said, "is it something that is ব্যক্ত a lot অথবা something?"
"Yeah I guess it is. আপনি mean your parents never ব্যক্ত that to you," I asked.
"No. I haven't ever met my dad and I don't remember much from living with my mom," she ব্যক্ত as she stared at the ceiling, "I was 4 when I moved to the orphanage."
"I'm sorry. What happened to your mom," I asked.
"She was a druggy and died of an overdose," I said.
"Oh, I'm really sorry," I said.
"It's okay. I don't remember much," she ব্যক্ত as a laugh slipped, "I was locked in a closet most of the time."
"That's awful. I'm sorry," I said, "I don't understand how a parent could do that to her child."
"It's fine, don't worry about it. It's not a big deal," Harmony said, "but goodnight."
I couldn't believe what she had just told me. Harmony had actually opened up to one of us. She was being herself and didn't have her guard up. I was almost in shock when she turned her flashlight out. I'm really happy she felt comfortable around me to tell me that.
