It was the home of William Winchester (the rifle guy!) and his wife Sarah. When he died, Sarah thought the house was haunted by the spirits of everyone killed with Winchester rifles, and a psychic told her the only way to keep the spirits at bay was to continually build onto the house. The building was stopped when she died, but the place is humongous, with doors and stairs that lead to nowhere. The Winchesters in Winchester House?? Totally AWESOME idea!! :DD posted বছরখানেক আগে.

It is in San Jose CA I believe. I have been on several tours of the house and it is quite creepy, but the problem is that there are places in the house that people are not allowed in, which is goverened by Sarah's will and her family. The best parts of the house are the door that you open and it drops directly into the kitchen sink and the stairs that lead to the ceiling and nowhere else. There are tons of things like that in the house that were said to have been built to confuse the restless spirits that dwelt there. The best tours that I took, twice, were the Friday the Thirteenth midnight tours. You go through the house with all the lights turned off with a flashlight. It was totally spooky. And before anyone asks I never saw anything there. I also got to go through the highly "haunted" prison in Moundsville WV. I went on a flashlight tour of it too, and didn't see anything. I think either of those places would be great because they are both real places that are thought/known to be haunted. Also the Winchester Mystery House was what the movie Rose Red by Stephen King was loosely based on.
