He had a great relationship with Simba. He could both have fun with his son, discipline him when necessary, and risked his life to save him. Simba did his best as a father, but was obviously too overprotective, which drove Kiara to rebel against him. Scar... well, perhaps he would be better with his own flesh and blood than he was with his nephew, but I can't imagine him ever doing anything purely for the benefit of his own cub. He's too power-hungry. By the sound of it he didn't have the best relationship with his own parents, so he would probably struggle to be a good father.
