Jaquilla Scales

Four-year-old Jaquilla Scales was last seen on September 5, 2001 in Wichita, Kansas. She was in bed at her family's house and discovered missing at 3:00 A.M. There were no signs of forced entry to the house, but the back door of the house was broken and couldn't lock.

Her mother, Eureka Scales was staying with a friend that night and Jaquilla was being looked after by her maternal great-grandmother, Mattie Mitchell, who had custody of her at the time.

At the time of her disappearance, Jaquilla lived with Eureka, Mattie and two of her uncles. Shortly after Jaquilla disappeared, her brother was placed in the custody of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services due to concern about the living conditions and Jaquilla's disappearance. He wasn't returned to Eureka's custody until 2004.

Jaquilla's case is classified as an endangered missing person.
