A friend sshould be honest, but gentle in their opinions, especially for for Elena, who's so needy of acceptance & fraigle right now. Caroline's supoosed to be Elena's friend, but now she only cares about Stefan, whom she's know for like 2 years - that is not fair.
Caroline should tell Elena that maybe dating Damon is not the best idea right now, that she should take more time to consider her reasons, but this whole desperate pushing her again toward Stefan, who was trying to fix Elena, who messed up [accidentaly] her situation with Jeremy & who's not able to support & accept her right now is basically stupd. That's whay Caroline calls "epic"? With the fangirling look.l..
Plus the girl who basically kill her boyfriend's friend & is openly & willingly flirting with the guy who tried to kill Elena TWICE & did some tons of crazy sh*it, is probably the last person who has right to criticize Elena about her feelings toward Damon...

Wanting to warn your friend about someone and fangirling over what you think someone's relationship was is not at all the same thing! Caroline was not a good friend to Elena because she didn't even take the time to listen to her friend all she cared about was her fantasy of Elena and Stefan "the epic" couple. She didn't even care how much Stefan had wronged her or how intense Elena's feelings for Damon are. She acted like Elena wasn't even a person with a voice, all she wanted was to play the relationship guru with her friends and that's incredibly immature.

Also Caroline is Stefans friend too and she doesnt like to see him get hurt, so she takes his side, over Damons...

She was a horrible friend to Elena. So judgemental. It doesnt matter how Caroline feels about Damon, this wasn't about her. She should support her friend, whoever she decides to be with.(interestingly enough she told Elena in season 3 that being attracted to Damon doesnt make her a bad person, only human...) She only made Elena feel bad about herself and her feelings.

^Exactly! I absolutely don't understand why Elena's feelings for Damon were such a shock to Caroline in 4x07. She knew about them (hello, 3x04!). That's so messed up.

Yes and no, I honestly think it's good that she told Elena about the sire bond. People really need to stop lying to Elena, and what not. I also agree that the way she acted about Elena's feelings for Damon was a bit selfish. But I also think it was completely understandable. Caroline hates Damon for obvious reasons, of course she's not going to be happy with Elena having feelings for him, and it just made it worse when she knew Elena was sire bonded to him. Her reaction made even more sense when you think about the fact that her only exposure to a sire bond previously was the hybrids being sired to Klaus, and with it being SUCH a negative thing on that end.

Not to mention, it's probably a bit of a throwback to her own relationship with Damon where she really had no choice in the matter after she was being compelled, I think she might just have assumed that it was something like that for Elena too, and was trying to look out for her. That's getting a bit into headcanon territory, though. Eh. I don't know, I'm just getting sick of all the Caroline-defending I'm having to do, considering I don't even like her all that much.
