In a large, pitch-black room, an elderly woman sat at her desk, looking at several papers. She picked one up with her pale, bony fingers and let her eyes wander across it from behind her spectacles.

"No," she whispered to herself. "This just doesn't seem right. It's all uneven. Terribly unbalanced..."

All of a sudden, a man burst through a door, allowing light to flow into it. He wore a suit, and a confident smile on his face. The man strode in gallantly, and pulled the pipe out of his mouth.

"Hey, darlin'," the man placed his elbow on the edge of the woman's desk. "How's the balance been recently?"

"Close the door. Then we talk."

"Caroline, sweetheart...you know I can't see like আপনি do..."

Caroline removed her spectacles, revealing her slinted, cat-like pupils, and pointed at them."You know what happens to them when there's too much light..." she snarled, her tone changed completely.

"N-no ma'am." The man, losing his confidence he had when he had entered the room. He reluctantly walked back to the door, and shut it.

The man had to stumble back through the darkness through the desk, feeling around for walls and taking every step cautiously.

"Watch out for the-"

"Oof!"

Caroline cringed and turned away. When she opened her eyes again, she saw her husband, laying on the floor, his left leg hanging over a pipe.

"Now..." Caroline picked up the paper and held it up to her cat eyes. "Where was I? Ah, yes.. the Balance. Mortifying over the course of the last two months. Monday, for example, 76% good, 24% bad."

"Oh, my word..."

"And yesterday, 99% bad, 1% good."

The man got up. "This...this is an outrage! Should we call in the-"

"No, Hugo. They retired, remember?" Caroline buried her crumpled up face in her hands. "What am I to do?"

"You could just hire a new one." Hugo suggested.

Caroline's face lit up. "Hugo! You're a genius! Why didn't I think of that?"

"I'm not sure," Hugo responded. "But who will they be?"

"You'll see, Hugo." an evil smile appeared on Caroline's face. "You'll see."
