Can ভ্যাম্পায়ার EAT?

Okay, just a little conflict. Correct me because I'm confused.

I've read something--a comment, maybe--that says ভ্যাম্পায়ার can EAT, but খাবার don't do anything about their bodies, so they don't EAT. This is that commentator says:
'Edward swallowed a huge bite of pizza' something something.

Now, my side. This is in NEW MOON book page 399. Charlie and Alice were eating. And Bella thought this:
'I wondered where Alice was hiding the food.'

Hiding. The. Food. What now? Do ভ্যাম্পায়ার EAT অথবা NOT?

Lol, anyway they can physically eat it, but there body doesn't digest it and they end up having to spit it up latter. Doesn't that sound pleasant? Oh and human খাবার tastes and smells awful to them, অথবা as they put it like eating dirt. So the only reason they would eat at all would be to blend in and seem human. :)
