-You coming? He asked. I starred at the ফুল he'd just tucked behind my ear and that I'd just pulled out. The petals were soft and lucious red, overlapping each other perfectly. Perfect they are. Roses. Gracious, colorful, romantic...
-Sure Dan. I said. I took his hand and let him lead me to his car. He oppened the door of the Ford's shotgun আসন for me and closed it behind me; the perfect gentleman. He turned the old engine on.
-Where do আপনি want to go eat? He asked me.
-Doesn't matter. I said, stroking the petals.
-What about Chinese? He asked.
-Chinese works.
-The place with the good eggrolls অথবা the other? Leah? He asked again after a few সেকেন্ড of silence.
-Um, eggroll place. Sorry, I'm not all there tonight.
-It's okay Lee. He said. He turned on the radio. The সঙ্গীত was a punk song. I immediatly thought of Rosalyn. It was her পছন্দ song. Dan quietly hummed the words. Every single word, he knew.
We pulled into the parking lot of Chun's Family runned Chinese buffet. It was the best place in town for eggrolls. They also had the wackyest cinese-cookie fortunes.
A pretty waitress, the owner's daughter. The nametag read "Rosy" written in a round and long penmanship, a little ফুল doodled besides it.
-Table for two? She asked. She was so chearfull she could've worked at Wal-mart.
-Yes please. Dan said. We followed the waitress to a টেবিল in the back. It was the টেবিল we always endded up at. Our table.
Before leaving us the waitress droped two fortune বিস্কুট on the table.
-We're running low on eggrolls, আপনি might want to snack on theese before hitting the buffet. She suggested.
-Thanks. I ব্যক্ত softly.
Dan cracked his cookie in two and read the fortune.
-"You must avoid flying monkeys". Well that ruins my plans. He joked.
I chuckled.
It wasn't that funny of a joke, but the way Dan ব্যক্ত it... He could say "dead puppy" and make people laugh. I cracked mine open.
"If আপনি really care about somebody, their happiness is your happiness."
Oh NOW I get something deep and meaningfull. I thought.
-What did আপনি get? Dan asked.
-"If আপনি run in a দেওয়াল the দেওয়াল will win" I lied. Dan chuckled.
-Typical. He said.
-Yeah. I ব্যক্ত brushing a streak of স্ট্রবেরি blond hair behind my ear.
I tried to act casual during the meal. I laughed at his joke and ate even if I wasn't hungry.
When we left the buffet, it was still light out. Dan parked the car in front of my house.
-Umm, Lee, I was wondering, if আপনি wanted to go to the prom with me. He asked. I looked at him.
His দগ্ধ শর্করা skin, প্রণয় of nature and lucky bead নেকলেস was his Algonquin heritage. His dark, happy eyes made me think of the sappy jokes he made me laugh with when he didn't have the energy to really be funny. His hair was messy and black and made him look like he'd just had wind brush threw it.
-Dan, you're really nice. You're sweat, you're funny... But... I bit my lip and looked down at the rose in my hand. I put it in his palm and closed his fingers around the stem.
- I think আপনি should ask Rosalyn.
-What? But, but Leah...
-She's incredibly sweet Dan. She still likes আপনি and... And আপনি still like her. I ব্যক্ত looking down at the rose.
-Leah, but...
-I don't mind. You'll be happy. And... And if you're happy, I'm happy.
-Lee, I really like you.
-But আপনি like Rosalyn more. ফুলেরসাজি are her favorite. That's what আপনি called her. I said, my eyes on the flower.
-I'm sure Dan. Go get her. I ব্যক্ত giving him a friendly মুষ্ট্যাঘাত in the arm. I smiled and got out of the car. I ran up the driveway and into the front door. I plopped down on the পালঙ্ক in the living room and peeked threw the thinn, white curtain.
A few সেকেন্ড later, Dan got out of his car. He shook his hair to get looses strands of shaggy hair out of his face. He walked to the house in front of mine, a rose in his hand, and rang the doorbell. A girl with shoulder lenght layered black hair and চকোলেট brown eyes, lined with eyeliner oppened. She was wearing a yellow T-shirt with the picture of a cartoon sun on it, mettalical flats, black jeans and a little red bow in her hair. He asked her something. She looked at him like he'd dropped from the sky for a moment. A smile so bright it could lighten the dark side of the moon drew itself on her face and she threw her arms around his shoulders and kissed him.
I dropped the curtain and couldn't help but smile, as I squeezed the fortune in my hand.
Chun's family-run Chinese buffet was right.

People down every turn
Pain inside their hearts
A girl with scars on her wrists
A boy with a ছুরি in his chest
She hides in the dark
Wondering when the pain with end
He stands up to fight in defense
Only to get knocked back down again
She fights with her parents
They don't wanna support the child
She's left to fend for herself in the cold
Alone with the child
Do we see what we are doing when we say the things we say?
Do we see who we are hurting with the actions that we're taking?
What we need
Are broken families reconciled
We need hearts to mend, scars to heal and battles to end
We. Need. Love
To stand up for the broken
We. Need. Hope
To give a hand to the hopeless
We need the world to care.
What are we doing with the words we are saying?
Who are we changing
And what effects are they having?
Lets be the change.
