Hello fellow অনুরাগী of X and welcome to yet another wonderful X-men countdown article. Normally, I try for the number 15 in my প্রবন্ধ unless otherwise made impossible, but this time it is 5. The flip side companion of this প্রবন্ধ is also 5 and will be পোষ্ট হয়েছে at a later তারিখ as will the comic counterparts. The subject of this প্রবন্ধ is something with which অনুরাগী of X have become grossly familiar : death. I will be counting down in this প্রবন্ধ the শীর্ষ 5 best X-men movie death scenes.
Let me make clear that which is already obvious. This is my opinion, not yours. that being said, my opinion has an annoying habit of changing over time, evolving just like homo sapiens in the Earth-616 comic universe. At this moment, this is what my opinion stands as, but don’t be surprised if that changes at some point and I মতামত as much on other items on this website.
I would also like to point out that character bias has played no part in my decision making. I based my decision on the scenes themselves and the impact of emotion they had on me, myself, and I (and the other characters, as well). Some of these are probably expected, but I hope it’s not a boring read.
Enjoy the প্রবন্ধ and please মতামত at the end and let me know your list.
BEWARE OF SPOILERS FOR BOTH চলচ্চিত্র AND NOVELIZATIONS! THIS IS MY ONLY WARNING!
Honorable mention : Darwin killed দ্বারা Havok and Shaw -- X-men: First Class
Darwin’s death to me was one of the আরো memorable moments of the film, though it certainly had some other great moments.
His death is an honorable mention for the best তালিকা for a couple of reasons. The first is how it was caused. It was really the first team effort of the new band of mutants in order to save one of their own. The সেকেন্ড is how it was Havok’s powers had killed him after establishing a sort of friendship between Havok and Darwin.
The reason it didn’t make the list?
Primarily, this is because it was unnecessary. So many deaths are unnecessary and done to sell a movie, and this is one of them. There was no logical reason for his death to occur. The argument may be that no deaths are logical, but this one was really stupid.
What the hell were they trying to save অ্যাঞ্জেল for? She clearly went of her own choosing, so it’s not like she was being kidnapped অথবা harmed. Also, they had just seen the amount of destruction and harm the Hellfire club had just caused, so why would they try to fight them? They’re not trained and really have no way of fighting. What was the point? In usual X-men style, they leaped in without a shred of hope and wished for luck, which was not granted that day.
Sure, the death itself secured the bonds between the young mutants and gave them a reason to fight, but I don’t know if it was worth it.
#5 - Mitchell Laurio killed দ্বারা Magneto - X2 : X-men United
Can we just step back and take a moment ot examine just how freaking cool this guy’s death was? I’m probably going to hell for suggesting such a thing, but it really was freaking cool!
This is mostly because of how impossible it all seems. If a person had that much liquid metal in his অথবা her body, doesn’t it seem logical that they would almost instantaneously die. That aside, the whole scene was pretty amazing visually. I’m not one for a lot of blood (that being the reason why I avoid the Syfy channel like it’s the anti-Christ), but the way it was executed with him was pretty tolerable and in fact, enjoyable.
The mist of blood created from the metal leaving his body was mesmerizing in a sick and disturbing way which had me moving closer to the screen to see what happens next. The small holes in his uniform, which I assume were also in his skin, were gross but showed the probable amount of agony that would have been like to go through.
Magneto’s complete lack of remorse to killing him and enjoying a sweet touch of revenge really sells the scene, giving yet another example of humanity’s cruelty.
The reason this isn’t higher on the তালিকা is I feel personally that death scenes should evoke emotion, but his didn’t do that. It was impressive, but there was almost no emotion.
#4 - Kayla Silverfox’s 2nd (and Real) Death দ্বারা an unknown shooter -- X-men Origins: Wolverine
The movie had a lot of faults, but one which was not a big one was the way in which Kayla met her actual demise. What make it a bit worse was she had just been revealed to have in fact been live after she and Weapon X had faked her death. Does it count as karma if she hadn’t wanted to do it the first time?
However, when helping her sister and the other young mutants escape, she gets shot in the stomach. Obviously, she bled to death, which is a slow and agonizing way to go. There’s not just the sadness I felt for her in that respect, but for a couple of other reasons.
The first being that she spent her dying breaths using her mutation to hurt Stryker and send him away. That’s amazing to me and shows just how much she cared.
The সেকেন্ড reason was after Remy LeBeau comes back to get Logan and Logan almost rips the poor guy open, they see Kayla’s corpse. Remy asks if he knows her and Logan denies it, but it looks like he wants to remember, like he feels like he should. The idea of not remembering someone I loved so much, especially if they died, I saw them dead, and I wouldn’t remember, is so painful that it landed Kayla’s death at #4.
#3 - Jean Grey crushed (drowned?) দ্বারা দেওয়াল of water-- X2: X-men United
Okay, okay, some people argue that she didn’t really die, and others argue she did. In my mind, Jean Grey died when the water killed her অথবা at least made that part of her extremely weak and then the dark part of her persona, which didn’t die and may have gotten stronger and is called Dark Phoenix, took over. Does that make sense? I hope so, but that’s what I’m sticking to.
This is where the তালিকা begins its descent into predictability. Jean Grey’s death at the end of X2 was horrifically sad. i find when watching it, it’s everyone’s reaction to it that is so heartbreaking, particularly that of Scott Summers and Hugh Jackman, which was obviously the point.
The entire scene was strikingly beautiful in the eerie way that funerals are with the performances of the actors being nearly spot on. I loved it right from the moment when Charles and Wolverine notice she’s missing to the end.
Hugh Jackman gives a great performance, but I really think it’s James Marsden who steals the প্রদর্শনী in this one. Right from the moment when he runs to get out of the jet and the ramp closes on him, his panic and terror was beautiful. Watching the field leader of the X-men disintegrate was interesting and intense. Nightcrawler’s willingness and inability to get to Jean even though he’d barely known her added to the scene. The students did a particularly good job of looking both incredibly sad and scared when watching Scott lose it.
The Charles possessed Jean was a bit awkward, but the conversation between Scott and “Jean” was incredibly sad, as was his breakdown after the fact. আরো than that, Wolverine was also breaking down, which I’m sure is something no one had expected.
If I loved this scene so much, why isn’t it #1?
Because of how much worse it was when compared to the novelization.
This goes back to the same reason that Darwin was an honorable mention. IT WASN’T NECESSARY!
I understand that they wanted a Dark Phoenix for the third movie. I totally understand, even though it ended up being about as good as doggie diarrhea. However, I would just like to point out that she didn’t even need to leave the freaking jet. Case in point? The freaking novelization.
Let’s just clarify something. I bought the novel specifically, I say again, SPECIFICALLY, for the Jean death scene so I could read Cyke and Wolvie’s reactions to it, but it never happened.
Hello spoiler alert! She didn’t die in the novelization. In fact, she went blind earlier that day, sat in her chair on the jet, and used her awesome telekinetic abilities enhanced দ্বারা her Phoenix persona to fix the jet and get the hell out of there.
I loved that much আরো than the movie scene for some reason even I don’t fully understand, but I do, and that’s why she is so far down on the list. Because even though the movie’s scene was good, the novel was better and I just can’t have that.
#2 - Scott Summers is killed দ্বারা Dark Phoenix -- X-men: The Last Stand
Now, how did Scotty’s unfortunate demise surpass that of Jeannie’s?
Like I said, Jean’s death was so low because of the novel’s superiority. X-men: The Last Stand’s novel counterpart was actually pretty damn confusing to me and couldn’t hold my attention. That being said, the novel had a good death scene for Scott, emphasising Jean and Scott’s প্রণয় for each other and it was really touching. Unfortunately, I didn’t believe it since she was supposed to be going crazy at the time.
However, while the movie was pretty damned stupid, the movie did Scott’s death well দ্বারা adding in the element of mystery. It’s still not completely clear if he’s dead অথবা not, director Bryan Singer even essentially saying he would fix that mistake from Brett Ratner and bring Cyke back if he made a sequel to Days of Future Past (fingers crossed). However, for the sake of this প্রবন্ধ and in the spirit of Marvel, I’m going to assume he died and might later be resurrected দ্বারা some lameass bullshit they like to throw together.
His anguish over losing Jean was হৃদয় wrenching to watch and I loved every সেকেন্ড of it, what few I got. I am a proud sucker for romance, so his surprise at finding her alive once আরো had my sparkly, happy side doing backflips and cartwheels while the rest of me was watching Jean with a wary eye. THIS is where the novelization really screwed up and the only time I can honestly say I enjoyed watching Famke Janssen on the screen, even though it really wasn’t as Jean. That was the whole point!
It wasn’t Jean!
Scott was so caught up in thinking he had Jean back that he didn’t even notice অথবা care that this clearly wasn’t the same chick from the সেকেন্ড movie. And then she kills him while স্নেহ চুম্বন him. Nice.
And who is #1?...
#1 - Dark Phoenix killed দ্বারা Wolverine -- X-men: The Last Stand
Yeah, I’m sure no one saw that one coming *sarcastic voice*. But, hey, at least I was able to make a decision.
I don’t even remember this part of the novel other than Dark Phoenix had burned Wolverine’s skin and muscle almost completely off, leaving him in his adamantium skeleton. That’s seriously all I remember. I don’t even remember the novel, so it must not have been THAT good.
In comparison, this part of the movie was pretty good, especially for a movie that absolutely sucked. Ororo’s look of compassion when Wolverine goes to do what has to be done because he’s ‘the only one who can’ is pretty damned telling.
Now, while I’m mainly a shipper of Jott (if আপনি don’t know what a ship is, look it up on urbandictionary.com real quick), I pretty much have a finger in every shipping pie there is, including a bit of JeanxLogan (do they have a ship name?).That said, I also majorly enjoy Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine. His complete look of misery when he’s going to kill Dark Phoenix is quite outstanding. What is আরো outstanding is he and Scott suffered the same problem for much of the movie, with one supposedly dying from it and the other almost so.
Neither wanted to see Dark Phoenix. Only Jean.
Unfortunately, at Alcatraz, there was no Jean. There was Dark Phoenix who was killing a crapton of people for almost no reason and Wolverine was the only one who could get close enough to kill her. His shout at the end when he shoves his claws in her stomach reminds me of another great Hugh Jackman flick : Van Helsing.
Now, I won’t spoil that one, but just go ahead and watch it and আপনি tell me if it’s not almost exactly the same freaking scene. I almost deducted for it, but both scenes are so well done I just could do it.
So there আপনি have it. Those are my শীর্ষ 5 best X-men Movie deaths. I will have the শীর্ষ 5 Worst done at some point, but in the mean time, আপনি can check out my other X-men countdown প্রবন্ধ in আপনি like countdowns as much as I do অথবা write one of your own (which I would প্রণয় to read, দ্বারা the way). Please মতামত and I wish আপনি happy reading!
