"Keep running. Keep running." I kept mentally screaming at my legs. They couldn't stop. If they did, who knows what could happen. I rounded another corner. There was that shadow, following me. Shaped like a man, but a man wearing a cape. Who wears capes these days? Totally tacky.
I ran and ran, pumping my legs harder and harder. Finally I rounded a corner, my foot found a pothole, and I went down. Hard.
My arm took the brunt of my fall. Still, despite which part of my body hurt the most, I was down. Now that man in the tacky cape hovered over me.
