The staff for the live-action film of Honobu Yonezawa's mystery novel Hyouka confirmed the adaptation and announced the two main cast members on Tuesday. Kento Yamazaki (live-action Your Lie in April, Orange) will play Hōtarō Oreki, and Alice Hirose (live-action Silver Spoon, Maria Watches Over Us) will play Eru Chitanda. This film marks the third time the pair will perform together.

Mari Asato (Ju-On: Black Ghost, Bilocation, Real Onigokko 3-5) is directing the film, which is slated to open in জাপান in 2017.
