Wowwowow I just got back to Victoria from Toronto (for a wedding) and I didn't think I'd get homesick that quickly but I did! I got to visit some of my family and বন্ধু from high school, and some of them are doing really well. Have আপনি guys ever reconnected with old folks and felt insecure? Because I did for a while! পোষ্ট হয়েছে এক মাস 1 আগে

Oh, hon, same here! I had a family reunion a few months ago. I was on the fence whether I should go, but I’d see the plans on ফেসবুক for it and I decided I didn’t want to miss out. Also my cousin who lives near me begged me to go. I’m somewhat close to her, so I figured I’d spend most time with her, while reconnecting with my other relatives. Once I got down there though, it was different. My cousin would spend আরো time with others (in ways I couldn’t যোগদান them, in their hotel rooms for example.) The first দিন went well, but after that, I had trouble connecting with anyone, and missed my actual friends/home so much. I was angry at myself because I thought I’ve developed better social skills since the last reunion. No ones going to read this, but it feels good letting it out, so thanks for this. You’re not alone. এক মাস 1 আগে

Hi everyone! Hi everyone! It's been a while. So, I saw আলাদীন a মাস ago. Anyways, seeing the discussion about the actress chosen to play Ariel lead me to think that I could share my thoughts on Naomi Scott who was casted as Jasmine. I think ডিজনি missed out on representing women who actually look like Jasmine, with her large nose and tan skin, something that's already considered an imperfection in the cultures that ডিজনি referenced in Aladdin. Let me explain further. (1/?) পোষ্ট হয়েছে ·3 মাস আগে

Having a deep tan myself, I have personal experience with colourism in the Persian community. It was আরো subtle, in ways that I would get encouraged to wear আরো sunscreen, and old women would say that my only flaw was my skin. I couldn't help but notice how the light-skinned women in my family were complimented for just that. (2/?) ·3 মাস আগে

It hurt, because I was very pale as a child and my skin just naturally got darker as I aged. I never truly detested the way I looked অথবা lacked outward confidence but a small part of me would have chosen to look paler, and I was mad that I didn't have a choice in regards to my complexion. The one woman that was (sort of?) from my culture in the media, and looked like me that wasn't Hispanic, was Jasmine. And she was considered gorgeous in Aladdin. Nobody cared when I was young and innocent, but the older I got the আরো people took notice of my complexion. (3/?) ·3 মাস আগে
