Discussing the unprecedented veil of secrecy surrounding Season 6 at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Tuesday, FX Networks’ CEO John Landgraf told reporters that his marketing team “went out and created many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of

, in different genres, different places. One of them is accurate, and the others are all misdirects.” (Watch the teasers here and see if you can weed out the red herrings.)

Landgraf  went on to confirm that, yes, “there

a theme and a setting and a place and time” to Season 6, “but we’re not going to reveal it because we think it will be fun for the audience to have the surprise this year.”

Executive producer Ryan Murphy previously teased that the new season will involve “elements” of children, adding, “If you look at horror tropes, the innocence of children, that sort of wide-eyed entryway into some world, is always very dramatic and satisfying.”

Also at Tuesday’s TCA session, Landgraf addressed American Horror Story’s eventual endgame. “All good things must come to an end, but, so far, as long as Ryan keeps coming up inventive and original and new ideas… [we] can keep going. By definition, it has a beginning, middle and end each season. It’s only the limits of your stories and your imagination that ends the show. So only time will tell.”

‘s sixth season premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10/9c.

Please god just let Angela Bassett get an actual role that doesn’t underuse her.

The truth is, like every year SINCE season 2, they have no clue what theyre doing and dont know what the theme is. Each year they start stories and they fall flat, moving them toward another direction that has nothing to do with the beginning. Tell a story for once, start it and end it. I know theyre red herrings, but that one hand reaching up to grab the knife/baby mobile looks cheap. Thank god theyre not legit.

Marie Laveau was my favorite character of season 3. It’s pretty sad that her biggest and best role was in season 3, when she was only billed as a “special guest star” for 12/13 episodes, yet in seasons 4 and 5 when she was in the opening credits, she was barely around.

I agree cher would be great. About Hotel very deep n like some other stories set to film , is based on the emotional journey of the individual. W/o the extension background in the written page .I think people were waiting to see what happens next n therefore didn’t absorb the full content they wanted you to say “wow that was deep ! Just my opinion.

Tried, but could not get into Freak Show OR Hotel… but good thing the story resets every year! Will definitely give it a try!

Hotel was the first season I didn’t watch because I just couldn’t get into it. I’m ready for this show to go back to the basics.

I’m guessing they’re not revealing it because Ryan Murphy is still trying to figure it out and it will be a bigger mess than the last few seasons.

Only with AHS, can the confirmation that there is a place and time be considered news lol

Please bring this series back, its the best show on earth right now, it keeps you guessing, its weird, suspenceful, im a big follower, please don’t stop the best seriers of all time, great people in & they VERY GOOD ACTORS & ACTRESS, THEY MAKE IT SO REAL, & THATS SAYING A LOT, KEEP THEM ALL COMING & THEN SOME, ITS A RARE TREAT FOR US TWISTED FANS!!!!!
