Anyway, yes. One example: I keep seeing derision aimed at the fact that left-wing people are generally supportive of Muslims, in the face of the conservative values that religious Muslims generally hold (re sexuality, homosexuality, modesty, etc). But like... seriously. We know that Islam is socially conservative. We don't care. It certainly doesn't mean we're gonna be fine with oppression of them and infringements on their freedom of religion. They have the right to their beliefs, even if they clash with ours, and we must defend their right to hold and practice those beliefs.

^ That's pretty much my stance on the whole thing as well. So long as they don't try to push their values on me I won't do it to them and I don't have a problem with them. In general I'm cool as long as people mind their own business.

I've realized, just this past year in fact (Hm, I wonder what could have possibly changed in one year...) that this statement has limits.

When your "values" consist of lynching, racial subjugation, and genocide, I am no longer "tolerant" of them.

Short of that extreme, I still agree with the statement.

There's extremes I will not abide by or defend. Racial,sexual,ethnic,religious etc discrimination. If you have beliefs that aren't extremely stupid and are actually okay beliefs despite not believing in them I will defend you.

Just like with anything in life, there are extremes. And if said views are really extreme with no logical reasoning behind them, then fuck that shit. Having a view is fine, but don't get consumed by them. That's beyond dangerous.
