Let's Talk About Frozen; Positives and Negatives

Ok, I'm pretty sure everyone knows দ্বারা now that I'm not a huge ফ্রোজেন fan! And I প্রণয় ranting and having debates, so how about we do a বিতর্ক again? (I know that they're going on in the ফোরাম section but I'm going to do an প্রবন্ধ because I don't want to differ from what they're talking about now.) this time, instead of talking about just Anna, Elsa, the parents, and the trolls, how about we talk about the positives and negatives of this movie?

How about I start with the positive section. There's got to be at least something I like about this movie, right?

The Positives

1.The Animation!
Ok, as most of আপনি know, I have tons of problems with this movie, but the অ্যানিমেশন is not one of them! The অ্যানিমেশন is fantastic. Specific parts, like when Elsa builds the ice castle, are absolutely stunning. I really like how the characters look, I প্রণয় the expressions they make, and I feel like they have great designs, although Anna and Elsa's look similar. I really enjoy the অ্যানিমেশন as a whole. It feels ALIVE, like somebody is actually building a real castle, right in front of you. Just, stunning. Overall, the অ্যানিমেশন is amazing and it's my পছন্দ computer animated ডিজনি Princess movie animation.

আপনি want me to be honest? That's all the positives I've got.

The Negatives

1.The Plot-Line
*spoliers*
Ok, so let's see. The plot-line is..
A girl who has ice powers is isolated from the world because of her parents fear that they created a monster. 3 years after their parents die the oldest sister has her coronation while the youngest sister finds a man she wants to marry even though she JUST met him, but then the oldest sister accidentally reveals her ice powers and runs away, causing an eternal winter. The youngest sister goes off to rescue her (in her dress, what the heck Anna? There's snow and ice everywhere!) and she meets up with a person who sells ice. Anna basically BUYS her way up to him দ্বারা practically BRIBING him. After that, they head off on an adventure, Kristoff's sled breaks (and if course Anna buys her way up to him again দ্বারা promising a new sled.) they meet a snowman that's alive that the oldest sister created when she is about to build her ice castle, then they see the sister, Anna gets her upset, and they're forced off. Hans comes and locks the sister up, Anna's হৃদয় is frozen, they go to the trolls and it turns out they need a true loves kiss, and they go to find Hans. Then it turns out Hans was a villain all along (yeah right, they just changed it at the last moment.) and he locks Anna up. After he locks Anna up, Olaf helps Anna get out, and then they find Elsa. Hans is about to kill Elsa when Anna sacrifices herself for her sister, Anna is frozen, and Elsa hugs her and she melts. Then Elsa SUDDENLY learns the key to melting stuff, love. (Couldn't it be something else?) everybody is happy.

It was awful. It was AWFUL.
I hated the entire plot line.
I had a lot of issues with the plot line.
Let's start off with the beginning, I've already talked about Elsa's parents, the abuse, all that.
Now on to Anna and Hans' marriage. So Anna meets a good looking guy, and falls in love. They sing a song, and ask the কুইন for her blessing. In the end, Anna learns that আপনি shouldn't marry a man আপনি just met. WHAT?! THAT was her lesson?! Even a little kid knows আপনি can't just sing a song with somebody and immediately marry him! What the heck type of lesson was that even supposed to be?! Anna also NEVER develops throughout the plot. In the end, she's exactly the same person she was in the beginning. She's still an awkward, annoying, immature, annoyance. She learned what has to be the stupidest lesson of all time, and even though the real message was about sisterly love, Anna still seems to treat Elsa আরো like a friend then her sister in the end. The whole plot line just bothers me so much!

2. The Characters
Well obviously they have to be on this list.
Anna: I really dislike her because she's annoying and I also don't think she really ever learned anything. Just like I mentioned before. She never develops. Take Rapunzel for example. Rapunzel starts out as a scared little girl, but develops over time, and she has that scene where she finally stands up to Mother Gothel. She's not desperate for attention either. She actually MAKES USE of what she has, which is something Anna DOES NOT do! Anna just sits around bored when she could be doing anything else! Have আপনি seen the দুর্গ she lives in? It's huge! She has a huge দুর্গ to explore, play in, do stuff in, and there's probably much আরো to do then that as well!
Elsa: I honestly don't blame Elsa for much. What her parents have done to her is traumatizing. But after her parents die, she still can't talk to Anna, that annoys me, but it's honestly Anna's fault. She asks Elsa all the time, and every time she does it, it brings up all of Elsa's memories. It annoys me. Anna was 5 when Elsa is locked in her room, and when Anna is 18, she's still knocking on her door. If Elsa doesn't want to come out, then LEAVE HER ALONE ANNA!
Kristoff: I personally don't care for Kristoff.
Olaf: I mostly despise Olaf for two reasons. One, he's just merchandising. There's a difference between merchandising and comic relief. Comic relief is ACTUALLY FUNNY, and people like them because of that. Merchandising is usually a made up creature that kids love, and they use it to make parents buy those toys for their kids. My সেকেন্ড problem with Olaf is his voice. I find it extremely annoying and irritating.
Sven: Dint really care for him either.

Well, those are my positives and negatives of the movie. I have a lot of issues with the movie, and I really have a neutral (and possible dislike) of this movie.

Digoenes I agree with most of your points. I liked the movie enough (probably not enough to watch it again though) but another issue I had with it is how it presumes how groundbreaking its themes are. You can't marry a man you just met? SHOCKER! What Disney movie has actually done that aside from Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty? In nearly all of their movies since then (both DP and none), the characters met and bonded together, even had a series of misadventures before getting together and even then they don't get married right away (Rapunzel/Eugene, Jasmine/Aladdin, etc). Second it does nothing to explain Elsa's powers or how the two bonded as sisters, in the end it's just TRUE LOVE AS SISTERS and suddenly she can control her powers. There is no buildup just resolution. I think the movie is as popular as it is is because Elsa is such a blank slate that literally any one can project their problems onto her. And Anna instead of coming off as being genuinely weird and awkward, feels like she was designed to be awkward because women relate to that right? Plus she loves chocolate, women SO love chocolate! Olaf I was fine with, he wasn't as horrible as I thought he would be and seemed like a genuine character. Overall, the movie is fine but incredibly overrated, I hope Frozen mania dies down and more worthy films take its place.

BelleRose829 I especially hate how the shoe horned Hans in to be the villain when lord knows he was GENUINELY NICE to Anna. The whole reason for conflict starts with the parents just being terrible.

avatar_tla_fan Diogoenes, I couldn't agree more! I hate how Anna falls for him because of his looks! It's annoying how she does that. She bonds with Kristoff though, but the love comes out of no where! The trolls sing the song and suddenly it's oddly obvious that Kristoff is in love with Anna. At least in movies like Tangled, you can start to see a relationship building, and they hint at it a couple times before they really fall in love. Also, yes, it IS INCREDIBLY overrated. It doesn't deserve any of the success it got.

avatar_tla_fan Bellerose, exactly. They obviously just wanted to change Elsa from being the villain at the last moment. And in the story it's based off of, the snow queen IS the villain, so they're not only making things ridiculous, but they're completely changing the original story!

AudreyFreak The plot really annoys me to and is probably why I can't stand watching this movie much anymore. it's unoriginal and I personally find it really catty- Disney is basically backhanding their own themes because they think the audience will like it more. it's like that one kid who is nice to you till the group they want to impress walks by, then suddenly they're making fun of you to make them like them. Shrek at least wasn't so mean-spirited about it, and it's just hypocritical to make fun of your own movies that made you a success. and yes, it's definitely common sense to not marry strangers! but the movie is dumb for acting like that's weird for that time period when it wasn't really. girls got arranged marriages to other royals all the time without knowing them (though granted it was typically done by the parents). The animation is also the best thing I have to say, too, though it doesn't differ too much from Tangled's style, but the colors are very nice, almost entirely a cool palette. I disagree on one thing though- Anna definitely learns to not be so quick to give her heart away while Rapunzel doesn't really change at all, she stays exactly as cheery and adorable as she always was. the whole "or should I even call you that?!" scene makes me cringe because it feels so forced and uncharacteristic. I also don't see why it's Anna's fault for wanting to be there for Elsa- this is being kind and supportive. she's trying to be there for someone she honestly thinks must dislike her. How would she know Elsa is staying in for that reason (the powers)? plus, if she just gave up, then she'd get criticized for being a quitter.

misscindyspice Totally agree with BelleRose on Hans. You SEE him smile genuinely at Anna when no one is around, you see him apologize and be sweet to her before he knew she was a princess. I seriously wish Elsa had been the villain, we would have gotten such an interesting and perhaps heartbreaking story about childhood friends, and adult enemies. We could have delved deep into Elsa's sympathetic, but villainous personality, and seen the hurt and sadness when Anna has to defeat Elsa. It could have been like Loki and Thor! But NOO, we had to write Let it Go and create a sloppy villain and heroine. Ugh, it grinds my gears.

Swanpride Let it go is a really good song...but, yeah, I have a hard time to find the good in this movie, too.

avatar_tla_fan The movies plot line is weak and most of the characters are completely unlikeable. Beyond all that, I don't even think it's funny either.

OnceABlueMoon I don't really agree on the idea that Anna fell for Hans just because of his looks. Sure she might have gotten a bit flustered when she first met him, but if he had ended up being an emotionless blob she would have most likely completely ignored him to try and reconnect with her sister. But she stays with his and interacts with him because he seems to be the one person who actually understands what she's going through. He's someone whose two oldest brothers have literally ignore for two years of his life as a "practical joke" and has been using Arendelle as his one chance to leave the shadows of his brothers and actually find some happiness for himself. Pre-betrayal Hans is perfect for Anna, and you know what, she is perfect for him too. Way more than Kristoff anyone, since he at least doesn't trivialize the emotional trauma Anna has been going through. SINCE HE'S GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING! Really, the only reason we're not supposed to trust him at first is because he's a guy. He literally has the exact same back story as Anna.

Diazdiaz95 Wow, I might be alone on this but I actually really liked this film although I do think that it's overrated and has more than a few issues with the plot. It is unfair that it is being paraded as a groundbreaking achievement which it wasn't. The story telling did seemed rushed and thrown together at times and they could have put more detail into the animation and either make Hans a better villain or not make him a villain at all. I would have much preferred the originally planned version to the final product, from what I've heard about it but I still really liked it, it's in my top 5, maybe it's my Disney guilty pleasure, who knows. I liked the characters, although they could have done more with Elsa. I love the soundtrack, I think that it is easily the best Disney soundtrack since Tarzan (well Brave's was great but it's a Pixar film and I'm only referring to Walt Disney Pictures' films. The humor does seem a bit forced but it didn't bother me. I think it still had that Disney magic so I enjoyed it but it's not like I'm a part of the craze or anything. I don't listen to the songs or watch the movie all the time. I own the movie and I've only seen it twice at home and once in theaters and I only occasionally sing the songs. Even I'm a little tired of hearing Let it Go everywhere and still hearing all the hype. I think that it was overall a very nice movie and far from Disney's worst but that's just my apparently unpopular opinion :) Nice article!

avatar_tla_fan Diazdiaz95 I actually did sort of like the soundtrack, well some of the songs, and I agree about the brave soundtrack, I loved it! But anyway, back to Frozen, yes, I think it is incredibly overrated and it doesn't deserve the success, money, and critical love that it got.

Digoenes I don't know about the film's development history (aside from the fact that Walt himself wanted to adapt the Snow Queen) but it seems that as soon as they wanted to make Elsa a hero then they had to scramble and come up with an antagonist so they chose Hans because he's the perfect prince Charming type and there has never been a villainous Prince Charming before (cough Shrek 2). In the original story, the Snow Queen wasn't really a villain, just an amoral force that Gerda had to save her friend Kai from. The original story is kind of weird and Disney is not known for sticking true to the source material but rather adapting it for a modern audience. With that said, they could have done a better job and kept the girl saves boy part of the story and still have Elsa/the Snow Queen as more of a force of nature than a villain.

I don't really know much about the original story, but I know Disney has done some stories from the guy who made them (Hans Christian Anderson, I don't know if I spelled it right.) and they usually twist it (the little mermaid) because the original stories are much darker, so it's really only a loose adaptation.

BKG201 I largely disagree but I managed to read the entire thing without throwing my computer across my room in frustration.

scarletunicorn The music is really good...Both the instrumentals and the songs, it's hard to keep them out of your head. Everything else, though, from the unlikeable characters to the stupid morals and dumb writing to the forced jokes and how they're just coat tailing in Tangled's success...Just ugh

Well who the hell are you to talk down everyone else's beliefs like that!? It feels awesome! I've only been here since November so It's a surprise to already be F.O.T.M.

2) Who is your favourite princess and why?

My পছন্দ Princess is Rapunzel. I just really প্রণয় her optimistic attitude, and she's always so happy. We're a lot alike in our personalities. I প্রণয় how she proved how really strong she was at the end when she stood up to Gothel and tried to leave the tower. She's a wonderful person, IMO.

Apart from the color and how gorgeous the hair looks when it blows in the wind I don't like her hair, why? Because it looks like paper since it's so thin and I hate hair that looks like paper. But I don't hate Pocahontas' hair since she actually has one hairstyle that I প্রণয় and that's the braided hair which we don't see for so long in the movie, but compared to the loose hair I much prefer that hairstyle even though she looks older with that hairstyle.

What I Think Are The Saddest Moment In Each DP Movie

I haven't seen anyone doing this kind of তালিকা so I decided to give it a try. Coming up with a তালিকা would be annoying because I don't really have one (I have a তালিকা of my শীর্ষ 3 saddest ডিজনি moments though, but only one of them is from a DP Movie). Most of these are very heartbreaking so anyway here we go!

Snow White's Death/Funeral
This was an obvious choice, I didn't even have to think over my choice. Anyway whenever I watch this scene I want to cry, first of all the সঙ্গীত in this scene is incredibly sad, সেকেন্ড all the dwarfs are crying, the candles are weeping wax, the rain is pouring down...

10. Pocahontas

I still don't understand why people প্রণয় her voice, it's powerful, but other than that nothing special in my opinion. But her voice has started to grow on me a bit and it might at least beat my number 9, but right now it's only 10.

I প্রণয় Belle, but her voice is nothing special to me, they could've at least choosen someone who was a bit younger, but I mean I still like her voice, but not আরো than just a like.

The Flag:
The flag shown on the ship was not used until at least 100 years after the time the film is set.

.____. I knew something was fishy about that flag....

Poca's hair:
ahh, her hair... Lovely isn't it? How it luciously blows in the wind.... But... Isn't it strange how WELL it blows? I mean... My hair is now almost that legnth, and even when the wind is high, it never gets so much as past my back...
So either that is some pretty WICKED wind, অথবা she has some LIGHT hair... Maybe both.

But, if the wind WERE that crazy, then why doesn't it blow the crap...

I got inspired দ্বারা starlight77's প্রবন্ধ so I decided to write my own প্রবন্ধ about what I think are the best DP homes, it was very hard to choose only 10 homes that where going to make it into here, I really had to think!

10. Atlantica

The only reason to why I placed this one so low is because it's located under water and the নকশা is a bit too simple and it's not as interesting as the other 9 homes. However when we first see it it's glowing and it looks so beautiful, I wished I could live in a দুর্গ like this. So সামগ্রিক a really beautiful home.

I honestly don't see the apeal to her. I get it a lot of আপনি like her because she has hazel eyes and brown eyes, but I don't think she's that gorgeous. She has some cute shots, but that was all. It's not her fault she was so inconsistently drawn, but I still wouldn't think she's that pretty. Now I have nothing against brunettes অথবা brown eyes, it's just I don't think she was that stunning. BelleAmie came up with this idea a মাস পূর্বে and since I'm not really sure what I want to write পরবর্তি in my fanfic, I thought I would give this a go. I hope I did everything right. Enjoy!

1. Your ideal name
Hmmm well I think I've grown into my name now but I really like some of the names from the বার্বি princess movies. They're so unique. I think the one I like the most right now is Delia so I'll go with that. I think Blair would be a close second.
