He's so annoying and his forced fascination with Evangeline is not charming at all!

The poorest "actual sidekick" that I've seen in quite a while. Why does a snowman love Summer? Bizarre and not really funny.

^@wavesurf: i find the thought quite cute as it comes from basic human psyche - the grass is greener on the other side and tend to fascinate with things we have never experienced. We always think Aliens will be smarter than human race, that moon is beautiful, that sky has color, sunlight is yellow and so on.

^I don't know. I just didn't find him "funny" for a sidekick at all. I mean, Frozen was unfunny on a lot of levels. And it was hard to see how he was "instrumental" to the plot, just like Louis and Sven really aren't. Even Ray, as annoying as he might be, served to "actually know where Mama Odie lived, because Louis sure as **** wasn't helpful; at least the bar thugs from Tangled broke Flynn out of prison, and Maximus took Flynn back to see Rapunzel in the nick of time; at least Merida's brothers helped Merida "spirit" Elinor out of the house before she got killed in bear form....

However, contrast these with the likes of Mushu, Genie, Sebastian, Flounder, Lumiere, Ms. Potts, and Cogsworth, the 3 good fairies, etc. These sidekicks are truly more involved in the plot of the movie itself, and if you removed their presence, the movie would really have several gaping holes, and some whole complete scenes that would be "disrupted." I know Olaf is the "glue" of Frozen, because he represents the relationship of Elsa and Anna "symbolically." But he's not much of a sidekick according to my "definition of Disney sidekicks"-- where sidekicks actually move the plot-line along, because main characters completely rely on them.

Now I'm further confused, then how did Mushu and Sebastian help move the plot-line. They were just there, exactly one step behind the lead character, rather than leading them. Both of them were creating problems rather than helping. They were always "trying" to help. I agree that sidekicks, as definition, should have stronger connect in the plot. But i also feel that they should have a stronger bonding with lead, a kind of dependence on them. And that is why I love Olaf, coz as character he is unique and has deeper meaning to his existence, rather than just doing a physical activity. It was so emotional to see that Elsa while the creator of Olaf was oblivious to his existence and on the other hand, Anna, immediately connected with him, despite not knowing how it came about. Olaf was also beautiful coz Anna always desperately wanted to build a snowman with Elsa (to share those lost moments with her sister again), and her deepest wish was realized in truest form. That's why Olaf mentions later, "some people are worth melting for".

i hate frozen

Most useless and annoying sidekick ever!

I love Olaf. I thought he was so quirky and endearing. He made me laugh almost every time he opened his mouth. I loved his little jokes because they required paying attention to the script. Like when he asked anna for the names and she gave Sven for both and later Olaf was confused on why they were calling kristoff by a name that wasn't sven. I also love when he said things like "why isn't she knocking? Does she know how to knock?" personally thought it was way too cute. Plus he taught anna about what real love is. Another great moment when he was like "I guess kristoff doesn't love you even to leave you." too cute!

Have to comment on mobile and can't place vote but I vote for thugs. Harmful to children and completely ridiculous. Most people who experience winter would love to make a snowman. Nobody wants to hang out with murderers and such.

Also I thought it was clever that Olaf wanted to experience summer. Summer is one of the most popular seasons though not my favorite. I think him wanting to experience summer was like the equivalent of hearing of disney world but never getting to go. It sounded like fun he could only dream of. I also think he served the plot by showing that elsa's magic could create something good and give life to something. He also reminded me a lot of anna so I also thought elsa created him out of her own loneliness and love for her sister. The personalities between anna and olaf were so similiar for a reason, in my opinion. He was like the middle ground between the 2. Quirky and optimistic like anna but logical and not aggressive like elsa.

frozen is very annoing and it is so populer. i rather stick with ariel!
